Coilovers

I'm seeing lots of people selling a couple brands... KW and D2

Does anyone have any experience with these particular brands? Or willing to offer some direction of where to go a for a good quality set.

After putting on my wheels, the 4x4ish looks are killing me, i gotta bring it down and i cant find springs that have the measurements I want. I refuse to cut springs

w212 & s212
i had my kw v1's for about half a year now and i love it. its a little stiff and it didnt affect ride quality much. i have 20's running on thin 35 tires so i was already feeling every inch of the road.

in my opinion kw's are the way to go when it comes to coilovers if u can afford it. i got friends with civics to bmw 5 series using kw and they all love it.

when i last checked...kw usa website didnt carry for sedans and only coupe. i have a contact who can custom order from germany if needed. $1600 shipped from what i recall

Looks like KW does have a V1 setup for sedan @ 1449.00.

How was the install? and how difficult do you find it to adjust the height now that they are installed?

Ctrl, for $1449.00 you may want to think about the Renntech lowering module. Just a thought.

Any other w212 coilover makers besides KW and D2? I told my wife I didn't plan to mod this one...LOL...but yah, the 4x4 action is hurting my eyes.

after reading review after review, across several makes for both D2 and KW, i decided to go with KW. They both had excellent reviews and couldnt find anything horrible about them.

I ordered the KW because they are made in Germany as opposed to D2 which are made in China or Taiwan. A little more expensive, but it gave me peace of mind

Placed the order last night around 7pm, and was immediately contacted by the rep out of California thanking me for my order and confirming my shipping address. He also informed me that the set would be coming out of Germany and I should receive a tracking number as early as today. So far, I'm at least impressed with their customer service

Just ordered a set from BBI Autosport in Cali. They arrived promptly a few days later. Quality is great and the fitment is top notch. Installation was a breeze. Your going to love them. The ride quality is far better then the stock shocks matched with H&R springs not to mentioned everyone loves the "pounded " look.

Can you tell me how the rears went? Ive removed struts from several other cars before, and always the rears are a pain in the @ss. Seems the top of the perch is located in the trunk of the car under all kinds of carpet and panels.

Any pics of the finished product?

CTRL,
I will try and snap some pics of the car tomorrow. Installation was a breeze. The rears took about an hour and a half. The top of the struts / mount are location under the interior truck lining. This is probably the most time consuming part of the rear installation. Feel free to shoot me a pm and I will give you some hints. If you need a hand with installation lmk.

Anyone got a pic of the actual D2 coilovers for our Eclass? All I see is the general D2 coilovers. Easy to install? Is it a DIY job?

Really? I asked my dealer and they said "no, anything u add, will void the warranty, and I why would u wanna messed up the fine engineering?" that's the answer i got...i was speechless.

oh yeh, lemme add to that...during the last few services, including the BMW, i had loaners...rental loaners...2010 civics, 2004 Lincoln Marquis (not sure if that's right) 2010 Malibu...i have yet to hit a MB loaner.

The confusion is not in the dealer's answer but in the questions being posed. Can you install the system? Answer: Yes. Obviously, due to federal law, simply installing the system wil not void your warranty. However, if you started having issues with related systems, the dealer would be able to make the case that your modification is the cause and not honor warranty claims related. If however, your radio stopped working after you modified the suspension, the dealer would somehow have to prove that the suspension modification caused the radio to fail. If they could not make that case, your radio repair will be covered by warranty. I think the law is the Mangusson-Moss Act (spelling).
