Hello from AZ

Hello folks.
I am picking up my 2012 E350 sport P2 this weekend and wanted to say hello!

I am getting the 040 black and am looking to order the roof spoiler today.

I think I will end up blacking and removing all the trim. I am having the dealer take care of the side chrome and rear emblems.

As far as the star goes, I don't want to mess with painting the trunk so

A. get the star painted black or

B. go with one of the aftermarket emblems. That I can include in my order. I was looking at the solid black AMG emblem but don't want to come across as a poser.

I do have the AMG sport wheels to go with it. I saw a carbon logo but it still had a lot of chrome in it and not a big fan of carbon. Any ideas?

Also, I ended up with the wood trim and am thinking of wrapping it panno black. Anyone do this and have it look good?

Regards.

I've never seen the E-Class "AMG" wheels on any real AMG car. I think the wheels were only designed by AMG and hardly justification for an AMG badge.

If you are going to the effort of blacking and removing trim, as well as debadging, why go backwards to put another badge of any kind, especially one that is irrelevant to the car?

As for the interior trim, please post pics if you go with the piano black overlays. It sounds like a nice alternative and would like to see how that turns out.

Congrats and best of luck with the new car!

I'm not sure how you would pull off piano black overlays and have it look OK. You could get the trim dipped in a high gloss black, but I can't a vinyl wrap working.

Quite frankly, I don't see the all black theme working on any new E, but that's just me.

I had the wood in my 750 wrapped and it is still holding strong.

As far as the exterior goes, golfster, I am looking to remove all rear badges and just looking for an alternative for the star because of the holes in the trunk. I am not looking to do any body work so second best choice is to replace it with something else. I saw a few that are painted black but I didn't really like the look of the black star. I was looking at the #13 badge that jspeed offers.

Its a clean look and has some nice black contrast in it. Like I said tho, I am hesitant due to is having an amg logo on the badge.

You had it wrapped in piano black vinyl?

You don't have an AMG, so why even consider that badge? I bet a BMW logo would fit in the same space and would make the same amount of sense.

yea you are rite. I am going to just keep the star in silver for now. Too bad they are not just glue on. The trim on the seven is a carbon. They used the 3M di-noc stuff. has a nice feel also.
I like the piano black I saw on an other benz so gonna see how that turns out.

di-noc works fine with carbon fiber, but vinyl is completely unsuited for a high gloss deep finish like you would find on piano lack. The closest you can do is get the trim dipped in gloss black.
