Diesel MPG on paper vs. actual..
My car is at 300 miles now and I m averaging about 36.4 MPG, in which I am already pretty impressed...My dealership buddy told me once I break in the car, it's going to return a whopping 41 MPG since that's what his manager is getting for the demo car that he's driving...the funny thing is on the sticker, it is only stating 32MPG for the highway, which is way lower than the trip computer...does anyone know why the numbers do not align?

Sure. This due to the new EPA testing procedures that come much closer to mimicking real life driving and now tend to show figures that are ready obtainable by most drivers.
While the new procedures still do not include jack rabbit starts and general lead foot driving, the new cycles actually involve real world issues of hills, turns and traffic.
Under the old procedures, it was nearly impossible to get close to the EPA figures in real world driving. Under the new testing, virtually everyone will "beat" the EPA numbers.

I regularly see 40+ mpg on my 40 mile commute. I was only seeing mid to high 30's until I hit 20K miles. I am now getting close to 30k on my 2011 Bluetec. Based on my previously owned diesels, I am anticipating another bump in mpg around 50-60k miles. It takes diesels a while to fully break in.

Wow! Good news. Thank you for the good news. Enjoy your BlueTec as I am now with only 450 miles on it. I must say I am impressed with MPG reports.

I just completed a long road trip...99% of the miles having been Interstate miles with clear sailing. On one long stretch of I-95 from NC to southern Georgia (being a stretch that's as level and straight as can be) I got an *actual* mileage of about 37.5 mpg at a steady 70mph.The computer showed close to 41mpg for that stretch but the fillup method showed 37.5
