Brake Pads and Rotors

Newbie here! I need help - where's the best place to order brake pads and rotors for a 2010 e350? Not trying to get ripped off at the dealership.

Swapped my 2011 E350 for a 2010 E550 with everything but night vision. Very nice car as was the E350 but I immediately noticed how this E550 runs dirty wheels. My wheels are just covered with black brake dust while the E350 ran extremely clean.

Any of you old dogs know if Benz changed pad material between the years? Are 2011 and younger E550s running clean wheels or are they still dirty?

What about chaning to something else. I still have pads left but will not tolerate the dust. Anyone know good ceramic pads to put on?

So lost... so I went to thebenzbin.com but there are so many to choose from. Apparently I need rotors, pads, and sensors. Dealership had quoted it to be over $1k for everything.

Lily, does your 2010 need pads and rotors already? How many miles on the originals?

Heres what I would do,,check with the tire rack,,see what they offer for replacements,,and that gives you a gauge on how much you should spend,,also see if they did change to a dust free or metallic pad,,,because Ive noticed a significant difference in the brake dust from previous years to this 2010 w212,,much less dust now. Cant comment on the 550 but I would guess its the same parts.

Brake pad dust

If you want to stop brake pad dust in its tracks - look for your local "Akebono" brake pads dealer. I switched to these on my W211 E270CDi and the dust is gone. I have just purchased a W212 E220CDi and the dust is back - Looks like I will have to swap again. The E270 gave many thousands kms of trouble free motoring on the Akebonos - no side effects what so ever.

XX2 for Akebono Premium Euro Ceramic Pads. Got Zimmerman rotors and
Ake ceramic pads for my ML and brake dust was almost non-existant. Braking power was fine too. Folks claim the pads and rotors also last much longer too.
Big thumbs up !!!

at what mileage should you change your rotors?
Seems like a 100K mile interval but I could be wrong.
