HVAC Controls
While the CLS is based on the E platform I much prefer the simplicity of the E's HVAC controls. The CLS controls are not as intuitive and user friendly when rushed to make fan speed, temp or air flow changes. I much prefer the straight forward nature of the E's up / down motion for the essential requirements versus the knob turning and push nature of the CLS.

W 212 A/C controls are the best looking ever made by any manufacturer . I just dislike analog controls and I see no point of using them , they are just dated lol
I wish C Class also fitted with these digital controls instead of grandpa styling analog controls

I agree. ^^ The CLS has a wonderful interior with a HVAC system cheap enough to be befitted into a sub $20K Dodge. The W212's on the other hand have perhaps the most high end HVAC system I've seen/felt. I wonder why M-B would put such a system in the CLS (cost cutting, I assume), which I also believe stemmed from the W204 C-Class which had the worst interior of a Mercedes in history (pre facelift version) perhaps.

The argument was that the rotary HVAC dials used in the CLS are more "sporty" versus the more "elegant" E-Class HVAC. I agree with the OP; the rotary are cheap in execution, and they're also difficult to use given the confined space where they are installed.

Couldn't agree more as well. $85k car with a 50 cent analog system that just feels cheap and rickety. Heck, my Dad's $150k SL also has the same junk. If you want it to look sporty, at least make the materials nice and give better increments than 2 degrees.

Agree completely. Even though my E coupe is built on a modified C class chassis, MB did the right thing and put E class controls in it.
Having had a C class loaner for a while a year or so ago, I found a world of difference in feel and appearance - for the better - with the upgraded E controls.
Surprised the CLS doesn't get the better controls.
