Do the math. I regularly get about 700 mi. per tank (21.x) gallons. My Volvo S80 T6 requires me to fill uptwice a week (20 gallon tank). My Bluetec requires me to fill up about once a week. $.40/gal is just there to scare you away. The US is the only country in the world were diesel is more expensive than gasoline (it is much cheaper to make). Our oul industry freaks out at the possiblility of diesels catching on the states. This would kill 30% of their sales right up front. We artifially inflate our diesel prices here. I have friends in the refining business. Just my 2 cents.Originally Posted by mikemargolis

Here in MN the past year, diesel was often 70 cents more then premium. Now it is about 35 cents more than premium.
I think that the price of diesel...and its relationship to gasoline...varies substantially from one part of the country to another.
