E Class W212 -> Chrome

Good day,

I am getting my E350 in about two weeks and thinking about removing those chrome lines on the sides, and was wondering if it's actually do-able It's coming in obsidian black with AMG wheels.

I'm sure you can remove them...it's probably double stick taped on there...plus, it'll match the rest of the car since there's no similar chrome trim in the front and rear bumpers.

Yes, Its just taped on. Use a heat gun, get them warm and they will pull right off. I did it and love the car without them. You can see in my sig a little.

yep. i did it. looks great.

i dont know what everyone's obsession with using heat and floss is...so much hard work for no reason, especially for a new car.

just take a shoe lace, loosen up a corner of the chrome and use a 'sawing' motion to get the strip off. be careful not to snap it in half. afterwards use some goo-gone or other adhesive remover and you should be golden. good luck

BTW, it's not chrome-it's stainless steel or something similar. Only chrome on the cars is the exhaust tips.

Yes, its just chrome covered plastic. And I use the heat gun because when I pull the strip off the, adhesive tape comes off with it, no need for any product to remove any glue or tape.

Anyone have any goods pics with the chrome strips removed on a black car preferably?

Also any pics of chrome 5 star AMG wheels?

Thanks
