2012 E350
WAX ON WAX OFF?

It's almost been a month since I got my 2012 E350 Black Exterior/Interior. After the rain this weekend, I will wash my car to make it look beautiful and exquisite. I also wanted to know if you guys prefer wax or a paint sealant for this car. I know some would say look at the "Detailing" forum, but some of those posts are somewhat old to me. As of now, what do you guys prefer more between the two and this is going to be the first time I would experiment with either wax or a paint sealant especially on a new car.

It all depends - we use paint sealant as it is more durable in general. Some waxes - especially Colonite are as durable as a sealants. For detailing questions look on autopia.org or autogeek. Tip with a black car you might want to get used to the two bucket method.

I personally prefer a sealant. I mentioned this in your other thread and BenzBee has mentiond it again. You need to go to www.autopia.org and read, read, read. From the types of questions your asking it appears that your new to maintaining your car's finish. I have a black 2010 E350 coupe and a black 2003 Infiniti G35 coupe which I bought in 2002. Had an electrician in my garage the other day and he thought that the G35 was a 2012 because the finish is still perfect after 9 years. I've learned everything I know pretty much from Autopia and believe me there is alot to know. Luckily MB has very hard clear coat and maintaining it is far easier than a car with a soft clear coat.
