Sorry I've asked so many questions as I seem to have offended many people. Well, I have to tell you, I do ask alot of questions because I thought I could ask these before going to the dealer. Sounds to me like I'm already dealing with the dealer with all the comments etc.

To say the least I.m disappointed in the responses, I really expected a more positive reaction to my concerns instead I'm being called names and talked to like I have no right to ask. Others have posted questions which have made a person wonder like myself to question whether these statements are true or not I.E. another engine coming out. I asked a simple question why and I get people all over me calling everything from a spaz to a weirdo.

Sorry for bothering you. I was depending on all your expertise as I thought this was a forum for getting owners opinions. Guess I was wrong.

Don't tell me that you are leaving the forums because of negative responses. Believe in me I have seen some forums that utter rage goes on and this is still a lovely place .
Of course, you are welcome to ask questions regarding your car and you get replies , this is why the forums are built for .

I didn't think that I acted offended. I thought that I answered your question as honestly as possible without candy coating it. And after spending time to give you my thoughts, you never even responded to me as I would have if someone took the time to answer a question that I asked and thanked them for their thoughts!! If you take the entirety of the responses on your thread, most were polite answers to your concerns. Some needed to be taken with the proper sense of humor. In general, this is a fun place for like minded Mercedes enthusiasts to share ideas but as in life, you encounter all kinds. Regards. Ned.

Internet forums are notorious for this type of behavior. I visit several different ones since I own 4 different vehicles. It's REALLY bad on some, not so much on others. I find this forum is actually pretty good. You want some nasty people? Try a Corvette forum.

Thanks you for your replies. I have been on this forum for over a year now but never had many questions to ask. I enjoyed reading all the posts and conversations about the different vehicles. Now that I actually ordered a car and this is my second Mercedes, I had alot of questions I wanted to ask. It's not that I always wanted to wait for the next newest and greatest car in the next year etc, it's just I wanted to make sure in my own mind the decision I was making was the right one since there's so much propaganda. Since one hears about so many issues which obviously doesn't affect a great majority of owners, opinions from a forum like this can be very helpful from actual owners of the cars. It's much better than trying to get an answer from a dealer who in many instances doesn't know. Many of your replies have been appreciated and if I didn't answer your replies, I apologize. I guess I'm not use to all the small talk and shots etc, etc.

Now that the record has been set straight, we will move forward.

And I understand how you feel about this forum. I once referred to the E63 as the E55 (only because my buddy has one) by accident and someone made a rude comment. It happens but I like this forum and will keep coming back.

I just got my '12 E550 and love it.

I am based in Canada too. I think our ordering is easier than in the U.S. because we have less choice in models (i.e. no luxury model, and no choice between RWD and AWD). I actually prefer less choice, as it's just easier that way.

But what really pisses me off is the prices we pay compared to U.S. I did a price comparison a while ago. An equivalent spec E350 in Canada was $6,000 more than in the U.S. On top of that, U.S. buyers get MUCH bigger discounts.

Given that the Euro is so weak against both the US and Canadian dollar, we should be getting better deals.

I may be wrong but the U.S. E350 doesn't have the same standard equipment that the Canadian version has thus more money? I know the E550 is like that.

I priced out the E550 from the U.S and added all the optional items which are standard on our car and I thought the retail price was reasonably close. But, I may be wrong or my memory is slipping as I did this some time ago. The base U.S version of the E350 has not near the standard equipment the Canadian car has and it's more expensive in the first instance.

You are right, discounts are harder to come by in Canada but it's not as big a market or competitive. We always pay more here but that's the price one pays to live in Canada I guess.

What do you like best about your E550?
