The front and rear of the seat can be adjusted independently of each other, however adjusting one does somewhat affect the height and angle of the other. However you can raise one and lower the other till they, one or the other, run out of adjustment.

I repeat my earlier statement ... This seems to be an issue with a lot of E350 owners. Because of some of the comments, I've been playing around more with my seat and feel like I'm closer to finding that "right" position. Coming home tonight and driving across the George Bush Turnpike, I'm thinking what a great car this is ... I would not be saying that about the 535i. Bottom line ... I think I will find the seat position that rocks thanks to the input from original post.

Btw ... I love my car. I may never drive anything but a Mercedes ... This may well be the first of many!
You will get used to it...

The only thing I miss about my Volvo S80 are the seats. Those seats were so comfortable and supportive. They support the back of the neck and areas of my spine and back that the Mercedes seats just don't support or seem to even have any knowledge of

+1 here! You know, I really thought it was just me...but I have the same problem as OP (and everyone else here for that matter). I can't seem to find that right position in this car! I usually like to sit all the way back (seat furthest reverse setting) like I'm 6'6"... But in this car because the way the seats "squeeze" me in the back, I can't seem to position myself right in relation to my foot w/ the gas pedal. Almost feels as if I'm reaching too far w/ my toes and my back doesn't feel right unless I recline as much as I can w/o being able to see the hood! lol I find myself resetting my seat memory everytime I get in it! I'll find it one day!!!

I haven't had a problem, though I'm 6'4 so maybe taller drivers are more comfortable in this car? The only thing I can find to complain about regarding drivers position is that I find myself practically sitting on the left (facing the wheel) bolster sometimes, as if the seat is leaning toward the left, pushing me over there. Also, I'm skinny but the seats are very snug, I don't know how wider drivers can find that comfortable.

When I test drive a car, I always begin with adjusting the seat to my personal comfort. If I cannot get comfortable, I do not buy the car. Pretty basic thing for me. I cannot see anyone buying a car that they found uncomfortable during the test drive. Live and learn and be more thorough in your initial assessments. While I agree with the above post that Volvo makes one hell of a comfortable seat, I do not find my MB standard seats uncomfortable in any regard. Mercedes Benz is not for everyone, so ask your doctor if Mercedes is right for you.

IMHO the Mercedes seats have bad ergonomics and they need to make them to support your back and neck more. If you ever get the chance, sit in the driver's seat of a Volvo S80 and you'll understand what I mean. The s eats are about the only redeeming quality I like about my previous car compared to my Mercedes

While reading last messages an idea popped up in my mind lol
So, is there any difference regarding seats comfort between Luxury package vs Sport package or in other words Avantgarde vs Elegance seats
I know seat pleats are very different between these two but is that all ?

My mind suggests me that there should not be a remarkable difference but don't know for good .

I am quite happy with my multicontour seats. I love the headrest particularly on how soft it is.

Yep. I am 6'4" and can never really get comfortable in the car. For a cruiser I don't think I would want to take a 5 hour road trip in it.

Maybe if I had multicontour seats, without venting, they would be comfortable.

Thanks for all the comments ... Even the condescending ones ... Fact is, my E350 was very comfortable on the test drive, which lasted a couple of days.l It's only been with day-to-day driving that I've found some challenges in finding that perfect position. As a result of some the input here, I tried some different ideas and seem to have found a good position by simply moving the seat higher. That seemed to put my legs at a better angle ... I'll get to test it out this coming weekend as we head out on a 6-hour drive to a family reunion in the heart of Cajun country ... But that's another story for another day!

Lol. I'm either 6'4 or 6'5, so I use whichever number I feel cooler with when I post.

I'm 6'4' and the seats are the only thing I dislike about my 2012 E550. I have given up trying to find a comfortable position. Like someone said in an earlier post, it seemed pretty comfortable the first few days. I'm just going to have to live with it, I guess.

I have multicontour seats and one of the things I hate the most are the headrests...it is always touching the back of my head. With it at the correct height it is almost pushing against my head. Lowering the headrest has reduced it but not it touches my head whenever we go over bumps. Wish they didn't stick so damn forward. My wife can't wear a pony tail if she wants to because the headrest pushes too far forward.

I should add that all the rest of the ergonomics are great ... Controls are right at hand (once you stop hitting the cruise control to signal a lane change ...lol!). Btw ... I'm 5'8" , so a different deal for me compared to you tall guys. I continue to try small adjustments and keep getting closer ... I will say it's nice to have three memory settings so that I can always go back to an earlier setting ... My wife will just have to drive her 'Vette until I've got the perfect setting.

Try driving 7+ hours.

And you not have driven more comfortable car for a seat you have not driven much cars. Just a Chevy Tahoe has better way more comfortable seats.

You work for a MB dealer?
