Service Bulletins - What am I missing?
Taking my 550 in to the dealer next Monday for the burl trim replacement and asked them to looks at these other SB's. Most concerning is the scored cylinder wall SB. Also having them check out the Airmatic and download the latest COMMAND updates. They have already replaced the front rotors and pads that were pulsing.
I was actually surprised at the number of SB's that applied to my Vin #. Anything I am missing?
LI67.30-P-050613 - 212 up to VIN A519818 front door windows intermittently reverse direction when closing cause excessive resistance dealer will replace and align window under warranty.
LI68.10-P-050415 - 212 burl walnut trim that is fading or discoloring and VIN is between A000988 to A291888 cause inadequate UV protection dealer will replace all trim under warranty.
LI27.60-P-051774 (original release 5/11), should be applicable - as I understand it dealer will update software.
LI82.70-P-051455 MAR11 – 212 called party has difficulty understanding driver; voice inputs via VCS are misunderstood, update COMAND software.
LI32.22-P-052062 – 212 thumping from area of the front axle when driving over speed humps when the suspension strut rebounds, the rebound buffer spring causes a metallic knocking noise. Dealer should flash Airmatic control unit.
LI03.10-P-052286 SEPT11 knocking noise from engine, inspect cylinder walls for scoring if found engine must be replaced. Affected vehicles are mostly production dates from 8/10 to 11/10 but might be outside this range situation was corrected as of engine # 2729xx 31932895 & 2739xx 30441186.
LI88.20-P-052891 - 212 rear bumper sticks out in area of rear lamp. Bumper experiences thermal expansion mounting rails (fender area) cannot sufficiently hold the bumper in place. If bumper is not equipped with additional latch, it should be replaced. Note since JAN11 bumpers are equipped with additional retaining tab.
LI42.10-P-051397 MAR11 – 212.077/277 without AMG ceramic brake system (B07) low mileage rear brake squeal, dealer should check batch # installed if within affected range 250-10; 264-10, 278-10; 288-10; 292-10; 307-10 pads are to be replaced.

The only issue I know I have is the faded burl trim. The others are everything else I could find that tied back to the W212 after my date of manufacture. Planned to have them check everything to be safe as I intend to keep this car for many years (like it so much I can only see trading for an E63 which isn't in my future)
Wondering if there is anything I may have missed or others have had to deal with I need to add. The Service Mgr had a scrawly look on his face as I pulled out my complete list including the SB #'s for him to go through. He shouldn't care as this is MB USA paid labor and parts!

Just finally checked my Vin and it looks like my car doesn't fall into the faded wood trim thing. Glad about that at least.
Oddly enough, it appears that all those issues pertain to either the early 2011 builds and/or the E550's? I just took my car to get the A Service done and asked them to do the same thing that got you that big list, i.e give me every DTB and recall that can, and they said my Vin didn't bring up any DTB's at all.

A successful trip to the dealer and picking up the car tomorrow after he lets the airmatic sit overnight to measure how far the rear end settles. He changed out the burl wood trim, updated the COMMAND system, checked the windows and flashed the airmatic software. He also inspected the brakes and the rear bumper but didn't find anything.
Very pleased with the service I have received from them. If anyone else is in SoCal the MB dealer at Foothill Ranch is outstanding.

Picked up the car yesterday afternoon and no issues at all. The SM was great to work with and took care of everything and detailed the car for my troubles. The only outstanding issue is the front suspension still "bangs" when going over a speed bump in sport mode. The have logged the issue with MBUSA and are awaiting feedback from them.
On a note, I can't believe the difference in the burl trim. I didn't realize how bad it had all faded. The new trim is a deep rich brown and feels like a new car. I strongly suggest anyone with a car in the serial number range taking it in for inspection. No hassles, no questions..and they have plenty in stock. Must be a guaranteed failure and MB is just waiting for folks to ask. SM said they have done a "few" with a wink which is why he keeps a couple sets in stock.

ok, now you said the front suspension "bangs" is actually an issue and i really have to take my car in for them to take a look. i thought i've read some members said this is the way how airmatic goes and we have to live with it.

I have airmatic and mine never bangs. Never.

"bang" may be a harsh description. There is certainly a loud voice of the suspension rebounding when going over a rough surface in sport mode. My first car was a 77 camero that I jacked up in the rear with air shocks to accommodate bigger tires. They would slam down after crossing a railroad track or similar at speed. That is the noise this reminds me of. The front suspension sound like it slams down to meet the road and in doing so bottoms out its limit of travel.

well, i should change my wordings. maybe like what pntblnk said, not really bang but i definitely need to go very slow over speed bumps or it'll scrap. so is it normal ?

You've got a great dealer

Would not do the COMAND update unless I could show a problem. Since I do not use Bluetooth streaming, etc., etc. cannot show a problem. Phone works OK. Navigation works OK, within the many limitations of MB nav systems.
My burl wood trim has not faded, but car is in a garage about 80% of the time, so very little exposure to sunlight. Will probably give them a list of all these TSB's to check out when I take it in for the "C" service just to get them on a work order before warranty expires.
BTW, we all owe a big THANK YOU! to "Koningsteer" for keeping us posted on these TSB's

You're A Great Member Too, El Cid
I appreciate the way you get down to the issue El Cid . It's not that common you see such messages everyday and mostly forum members forget to thank other members who can help them out solve their glitches with their cars
