Album Artwork!?

One thing I love about my W212 is the album artwork that shows up when you plug in your iPod.

However, I have noticed many inconsistencies (some songs show artwork, others dont, and some show artwork sometimes).

Anyone else had this issue? Obviously not a major issue, but just curious as to why it does this?

I don't own a 2012 but I'll love to see the display. Post pics! Do all of your songs have artwork on the pod? Could very well be the ipod.

I admit, it's a cool feature.....and I do like it, but I NEVER have my display screen on, so it's kind of pointless for me......but it is nice

Rest assure , there is nothing wrong with your MB's system . I have spotted a similar weirdness on my Sony MP3 player as well. I think some tracks come with all the details while others are not

but is there a difference between ripped music, and music straight off of a store bought CD, despite it's rarity.......

of course, wasn't insinuating otherwise, just wondering if that would be a factor....

but it is neat to see the artwork.....would be even better to be able to have the entire command screen display the art too

Do you happen to know if the artwork is fed to COMAND through the iPod or if it is supplied by Gracenotes? Gracenotes is maddening. I had something similar when I was using CDs - sometimes it would recognize album and song titles, and sometimes not. It could be a CD I was playing when I stopped to get gas - Gracenotes could see it before and not after, or vice versa.

That you have to plug in your iPod suggests it is done by Gracenotes. Otherwise you should see it with BT Audio too.

Sadly, mine doesn't show artwork.

I love this icon

I'm having the same issue. All of my album artwork shows on my iPod when playing, but only random album covers show up on the Command screen when they play (connected through the media interface in the center console).

I just did a google search to answer my earlier question. The artwork is provided by Gracenotes, not by your iPod or iPhone. Either Gracenotes sucks or MB's implementation of it sucks. The cd player in my car sometimes and sometimes not recognizes the name and songs of a cd. No pattern. I can't imagine the artwork feature is any better. The artwork shown on your phone is stored on your phone. The phone pushes song names and title to the car, but not the artwork.

Edit. The cd player uses Gracenotes unless you burn a copy with a file that provides song names.

Thanks tto for your reply . It seems a mystery solved .

Edit :

I looked at COMAND Manual and page 204 talks about Gracenotes . You have to turn it on in the Audio menu . I think MB's system doesn't suck at all lol

Edit:

I messed up some features of COMAND . Here is what I discovered :

You can make Comand show up your images stored in MP3 player but you need to use Media Interface to make it happen othwerwise if you use Aux , this will not work

Media Interface enables album covers to show up and I can demonstrate you thanks to these images , same album cover doesn't appear in Comand screen if you hook it up Aux instead
So, do not use Aux if you like to see album covers
BTW, I was able to charge my Nokia N8 thru the USB port in the center console and I could also listen to the musics stored into the micro SD card
One thing to say , array of songs were different than you could heard in the Media Interface or Bluetooth Audio , I dunno why lol
