Shiny tire spray

What is the best? I want a spray on and walk away, not a spray and wipe. Too messy and too much work.

Thanks

Unpossible to do correctly.

You first need to scrub the tire clean. Thereafter, I use Aerospace 303 diluted with water. You'll always need to wipe any excess off the wheels though. 303 gives a nice dull shine to the tires that doesn't make it look artificial. 303 will also do all your interior vinyls and plastics.

Look at TUF Shine from Detailed Image. It lasts forever, but you need to properly prep the tire by removing all the old tire shine. Use a wheel cleaning brush with P21S Total Auto Wash or some other degreaser and apply the tire shine to the tire. It should last wash after wash.

However, if you don't want to go through the trouble, look at Meguiar's tire shine products that are available OTC at places like Walmart, Target, etc.

All,

Thanks for the info. Went to Autozone and bought Armor All Extreme Tire Shine.

I am not a car guy.
I am not going to clean my car with a toothbrush or a chamois cloth.
I have never washed a car by hand, and I am never going to.
I have never waxed a car by and and I am never going to.
I love the car, so it's a big move for me to want the tires shiny.

I am in the $5 car wash because I just don't care enough to do anything else.

I tried to tell you what I wanted, but you told me what you wanted.

I bought some Armor All wipes for the interior too. Now tell me what a schmuck I am.

Just make sure to let the product dry as if it doesn't before you drive it, the silicone will sling off onto the paint, causing black marks that cannot be removed at your local car wash.
Other than that, have fun with your tire shine!

I love your post!

I do wash my car by hand, but I too (don't tell anyone please-I don't handle criticism as well as you) use Armorall on the tires. And it's not even the "special" kind for tires. Just plain old original Armorall. Spray on - spread in with a single wipe - done. Sure it doesn't last very long, sure I can't see myself in the tire, but then I have the fun of doing it more often and deluding myself into believing that, by bending down four times, I'm getting all the exercise I need.

I guess this makes me a Semi-Schmuck. I'll live with it already.

Best shine I've found and doesn't turn brown.

candor respected !

I'd also stay away from petroleum based ones because I understand they will
eventually dry the tire out.......sounds weird, but I did that to my volvo all the time, and used to use it on my F150, but now the tires have those 'cracks' running along the outside........don't have the volvo anymore, but my truck tires still look like that.......

also, OP, your last post was funny

Yikes! Don't put Armorall on the interior! Even a non car guy should avoid that. Just be sure to write your Vin out here when you get rid of the car, so no car enthusiasts buy it.

I use Armorall wipes on my tires (ONLY on my tires). They don't last long, but are easy, and they're actually not the "Tire Shine" ones, they're the "Interior Protection Wipes", so the shine is more matte and not as over-glossed. It's very simple to use, and since it's done by wipes, it doesn't fling stuff everywhere at all.

BIG +1 to "Miracle Juice" Aerospace 303, recommended to any car enthusiast. Put it on almost anything but paint and it does nothing but good.

Although this photo is a little exaggerated This cover (Rim Brim) really is handy to keep your tire shine products off your wheels. I use Meguiars Endurance. You can control the amount of shine by the number of coats you use. I have never had a problem with slinging. I spray and wipe my tires and this cover (has two tabs at the top to hold it in place) keeps all the product off my 18" AMG wheels. Comes in many sizes...at www.rimbrim.com.

I'd like you to consider what you are trying to do... IMHO the shiny stuff makes the wheels look like they came from a cheap car wash place. It is better to try and make the tires look like they are new... I looked around quite a bit for a good product and this is the one I found that works really well. It is long lasting and leaves an understated satiny shine that resembles the look of new tires... Might not be what you are looking for but take a look at it...

Amazon Amazon

As for your hands getting dirty, I used these on my tires yesterday evening before a formal event. I sprayed the tires and simply used a folder paper towel to spread it around the tires and I just washed my hands with soap and water. No mess and all done in 5 minutes... And my tires are good for a month or more...

my wife bananas! :D
I personally find washing my car theurapeutic lol but to each their own no style is wrong

To your comments, the armour all spray for the tire works great. And get yourself a pack of multifibre cloth... to quickly dry off what was missed by a touchless car wash

imo... 90% of the average population would not notice the difference between a clean car and a detailed clean car. What the average person will notice are

- tires and wheels
- dirt on windows
- obvious dirt or dust on the actual body
- over-all shine of car

for your situation, i would just go to a touchless carwash, ... then as soon as you pull out from it, wipe down the car, and then spray on the armor all... done!

In your first post you looked like a guy, who loves a car, but lazy.
Too sad that at the end you're a schmuck. Why even bother to ask people a question ......

Let me put this in watch terms to make it clearer.

ArmorAll is the devil. It is the Stauer of car care products. Mass produced crap for the ignorant passing itself off as quality. The wipes actively remove UV protection from interior plastics and make the "soft touch" materials on some interior buttons peel.

Do yourself a favor and buy some Aerospace 303 - so much better than AA.

Tire manufacturers recommend against solvent-based tire dressings since solvents can penetrate the tire and leach out and remove its protective UV and ozone components. This will cause yellowing and premature cracking and failure of tires according to the tire manufacturers. Armorall is full of solvents.

Try 303 or something like this. Your tires will like it and won't turn brown. If you get something fro DD, the use the code BMW at checkout for a discount.

CEB:

Got it!

So now I understand what I bought is the wrong stuff. A wasted $11 investment. No problem.

Will the 303 do what I want as easily as I want to do it? Otherwise, I will just live with the tires as they are.

Almost. You'll need to start with a clean'ish tire, spray it on lightly and then wipe it off with a paper towel or an old towel. I bought a cheap tire sponge at Autozone and use that to spread the 303. I spray it on, grab a glove (or a handful of paper towels) to protect my clean hands from touching the tire sponge and wipe down the tire. With a good product, you only need to apply every month or so it isn't like you do it every time you gas up.

Thanks for the recommendation. It is very highly rated in Amazon. Can I use it on all the interior plastic surfaces of my car like the dashboard, buttons, plastic door trim and buttons, etc., ?

Yep. You can use it on virtually anything. It won't leave a shiny surface but will protect and repel dust. I cut it 50/50 with distilled water to "stretch" the product and to leave an absolutely new car finish on plastics. Keep it off glass though as it will leave streaks - that come off easily with glass cleaner.

i'm as lazy/busy as you and i don't even use anything other than my beloved mini california duster for the interior . anyway, i used something called more shine less time before and it worked pretty good. it's extremely easy. no mess, no touch, finish in no time. last pretty long but probably doesn't have the shinny look you want. you can read the description here:

One of the best things about Aerospace 303 is that aside from all the protecting and "you can get it everywhere, there are no detergents, and it won't harm practically anything", is that it seems like it rejuvenates plastics as well.
