Bluetec acceleration problem

Just leased a 2012 E350 Bluetec in March and loved it so far until today. 1900 miles and now an acceleration problem. Acceleration is lagging on full throttle, not reving, takes about 30 seconds to get to 60. Luckily the dealer was on the way to work and got in right away, but any thoughts on what this problem could be? Didn't matter if it was in sport or eco and the paddle shifters didn't help as well. Guess I broke something during break-in.

A lot.
30 SECONDS TO 60?!
Man you have something really wrong with your car, did you try just revving the engine? Is that fine?
Considering you have a W212 E350 BlueTec, i really suggest you tow your car to the dealer, i wouldn't want to risk anything else...

Insufficient fuel pressure ? This is interesting and hopefully works good for you
It could be a problem with the tranny as well .

I can't guess what might be broken, hopefully it's something small like a fuel pump.

Since you've had 1900 miles of it running well, you know what it's like when it's working well: As the Autoweek guy said, it's like a 777 heading down the runway for takeoff.

I'll post what the outcome soon ... well, if it gets remedied soon. Service advisor thought it may be one of the electronic valve controls, but hasn't encountered this issue in the newer bluetecs yet. I read so many positive things on the forums about the bluetec, hope this isn't a sign of what's to come!

It is very likely that something that would cause a 0-60 time in excess of 30 seconds would leave a fault code. It would have to. It is likely a bad sensor somewhere. It could also be bad fuel. Dump a bottle of Power Service Diesel Kleen in the tank and see if it doesn't clear up.

i love my bluetec's performance... awesome gas mileage and great acceleration. Sorry to hear you are having issues, I recall the 07 GL320 CDI had issues with acceleration due to the intercooler hose popping off.

Most modern cars go into this type of mode when they sense a serious engine problem. There are many many sensors, any one of which could be causing the problem...or it could be that they are actually sensing a hardware problem. In any case, the car is in "fail safe" mode.

The dealer will figure it out and it could be anything from a loose hose to a faulty high pressure fuel pump, etc.

What is the point to ask people on this forum if your car is leased and has full factory warranty ? You're not going to fix it yourself ... right ? Just bring it to your dealer, get a loaner and wait till they will fix it. Don't worry, be happy

P.S. You did not brake anything during brake-in period.

Thanks for the insight everyone. Service advisor called, could not replicate the problem after 60 miles. Even with a video of the incident, showing that I couldn't rev with my foot to the floor, but apparently it reset after shutting the car off. No fault codes they could see (surprises me). I should have been more insistent on getting a tech in the car before shutting it off!

I hope he braked during the break in period. Had he not braked then he'd have hit something and really broken something.

Give me a break. I just hate it when posters confuse break and brake.

You are now smarter....so the next time this happens, and it will happen again, you can take the car to the dealer when the car is failing and have them drive it themselves. At that point they have a choice of fixing the car or Lemon Lawing it....

I suggest that you visit the ML 350 forum as well. There may be similar problems there with possible fixes.
