For long road trips, I'd like to give me son the option of watching a videos in his center positioned carseat.
The wife blocked getting the rear seat entertainment package when I ordered my car.

I am wondering what other people have done.
ps I am looking forward to switching to the android platform from my ipad.

I am considering the 7" samsung galaxy with a suction car mount that I'd attach to the moon roof. I think this would allow for an easily removable solution.

Has anyone purchased excellent mounts?

hi MJ.....

I used a sony dvd player that I stuff in the storage spot on the back of the seat......it
flips up so the bottom is in and the screen is out.....I don't use it much anymore....
had a remote too!
I'd also have the rear speakers off and my music only in the front so it partially drowned
out any ambient mICKEY coming from back there.....haha, but that also pandered to the dvd's volume setting, as it was usually low.....

You can't downgrade to an Android from an iPad!

This is a little pricey but will work with your IPAD:

Personally, for safety reasons, I would trust a mount fixed on the seat headrest than a suck cup solution.

Google to Samsung:

"Great, you don't worry about the software, we've already told Apple the same and will give our version to you for free".

Apple to all:

Yeah it's all good. I'm not looking to get into one of those "fanboy wars", just poking some fun. To each their own.

I love Apple though, their products and experience is unique to only Apple, which is one reason that I enjoy it (while Android you can get in every product, top to bottom, just doesn't feel as "precise to product" IMO).

I think the iPad is still the far and away Tablet king, especially with the beautiful Retina Display, and I love the iPhone, but Apple's expected to (and better) come correct to hit the competitors back with the iPhone 5.

I am looking forward to the switch to android mainly for software reasons. The hardware out there from apple, motorola, samsung are just great.

Apple, similar to the borg, wants to assimilate your file structure, your beliefs, your hardware, and does not play well with others. Talk about big brother and its followers' double think (I've always found their 1984 ad very ironic).

Since I use a lot of google products, I get my music from multiple sources, I go to websites with flash, and iTunes runs so poorly on PC's, Android makes sense for me.

KA - you're right, apple does need to make a big jump with the iphone5. With hardware out there like the razr maxx, I am surprised iphones are selling strong.

I went with the OEM set-up that is factory installed. There's also an OEM aftermarket unit as well that can be installed after you purchase your car from MB. I also have 2 ipads I use for travel but not a big fan of using them for movies. Main reason is the amount of space the movies take up on your Ipads. Each movie is 6 to 8 gigs. Each DVD you have has to be transfered to mpeg4. This takes a lot of time. It's nice to grab a dozen DVD's and go and both my kids can watch different movies and wear the seperate wireless headphones. I've also picked up movies while on vacation. As technology improves I'll switch to a Blu-ray player in the Benz that will also play DVD's. The logisitics in using an ipad for this purpose is really not a good one when you consider mounting, storage space, ease of use etc. Quality with blu-ray will be unmatched by an ipad though the retina display would look awesome. You'd have to have a terabyte of storage on an ipad to store blu-ray quality video.

I don't mind the Apple ecosystem though. I think it's a smart structure that they've created where everything has to be fit for each other by way of being Apple. Makes the experience simplified, concise, and also in many cases, safe (don't get me started on PC's). However, yeah, if you have multiple sources, then it will make it difficult to mate everything.

iPhone 5 will be very exciting and interesting to see! Apple's got their work cut out for them and this thing has apparently been being worked on since the original 4 came out, and apparently Jobs was working on it during his last days. I'm not a big "phone guy" but I really am excited for it. More so for the finally updated Macbook Pro's with the rumored Retina Display. The Retina Display is the most beautiful digital screen I've ever seen, and a big plus for it that no one talks about so much is how safe for your eyes it is. I look at my current Macbook Pro all day, and can imagine the Retina will make it much friendlier to my eyes.

Anyway, report back with the new Tablet when you get it!
