Porsche Macan S SportDesign / Ex M-B's: 11 & 10 & 06 E350's, 02 S500
Performance will probably be on fire. Audi is adopting Porsche's sacred "black magic" at using EFFICIENT Horsepower, i.e smaller doses that yield big results, while seemingly everybody else is putting ridiculous HP figures on ridiculously weighted cars, yielding less "functional Horsepower" dynamics, per-se.
Audi's designs just don't turn me on, and I'll admit even though it isn't "my thing" at all, the A7 has some nice aspects.... but it's mainly that hideous rear portion that ruins it all for me. Not only does said rear half look very dated already, but it's just ungainly, imbalanced, and too "Wagon-y" to go along with that "Coupe like" profile.

That's a really good point. I have been noticing the same. Very impressive how the new V6 A6 with "only" 310 HP is almost as fast as the Mercedes E550 with a 0-60 time of about 5.5 seconds. This new engine is going to be a monster if we extrapolate that kind of efficiency...

Years from now, when the car companies have shrunk the displacement of the engines and compensated by using Turbos and Direct Injection technology, I'll savor the N/A 5.4L V8 and reminisce about a time when the E550 actually meant a 5.4L engine!

Audi has definitely been on top of their performance game over the last few years. With that much power and torque on tap, that S7 could probably light up all 4 tires if all the nannying can be turned off.
I'm not a fan of any company's 4 door coupe styling though. An S6 Avant OTOH would be juuust right.

This is one of the best looking Audis ever made but side profile is awkward unlike CLS , another 4 door coupe in its class lol

Side-by-side, E-Class wins "hands down" as far as design, style and looks, IMHO... Audi can have all the checkmarks in the performance column all they want...if I wanted pure power w/ a touch of sexy style, I would've bought a Shelby GT500 or Charger SRT8 for sure! No way Audi beats those performance #s! lol But I'll take what appeals to my eye, along w/ the not-too-shabby performance to boot! Case-in-point, can't find it right now, but I believe K-A posted a thread w/ some pics of an A7(?) and his E together and I was truly amazed @ just how much more of a statement the E's design made over the A in comparison. I was impressed and truly convinced that E was the right choice... W212 is the BEST looking E ever!

No contest in looks to me as well, the E's design just seems more dynamic, and I appreciate that classic "Stately 3-Box Benz look" in comparison as well.
Here is it next to an F10 5-Series. IMO, the 5-Series' design isn't as dynamic as the E's, therefore it doesn't show as well as the E does when next to the swoopy/"exotically natured" A7:
