800 miles road trip review/feedback

Seattle to Pullman WA (WSU) to Silverwood Theme Park Idaho and back. My 2010 E350 with about 32k miles averages 26 mpg doing a lot of 80mph plus or minus 4mph (AC on). Road (I90, Hwy 95, 6) is wide open and got lucky I guess without getting ticket.

1st of all, this car is SOLID, at 80mph - no rattles, very quiet, feels very stable. My old V70R came with factory Brembo brakes and seems like the brake in my 2010 E350 is twice as good or maybe due to better chassis or suspension i don't know. Also checked the oil before and after the trip and happy to know that it does not burn/used oil. (My previous Audi did)

Tire pressure - started the trip at Discount tire to get the tires to 31 front and 36 rear. During the trip with outside temp between 70-77, TPMS reads 33 F and 39 R but early morning it was at 29f and 34r but jump to 32 and 37 after few miles so I guess it fluctuate that much. I have a suit case and couple of backpacks in the trunk, my wife and I plus my 7 year old in the back.

Tires - orig was Continental but the car got Pirelli when I bought it so no idea how many miles when it was put in. I think the car will be much better and quieter when I replace it with Continental DWS based on my previous experience with the tires in my Volvo.

Congrats. I've taken my car on many long distance drives, and I really don't think there is a better car suited for long distance drives. The W212 is M-B putting their historic knowledge in developing the greatest long distance drivers, into this car. Great thing is, there's a lot of "subconscious" greatness about its drive. You feel so fresh whenever you get to where you have to go, also, the solidity and safety embedded into the car give you a feeling of security and safety.

I'm definitely looking forward to doing a long road trip...

My house to Las Vegas is 554 miles roundtrip and the house to the beach in LA is right around 790 miles roundtrip, planning to do both this summer.

Good to see a feedback on W212 ,thanks for that

I haven't driven it into long distances yet but seats are comfy and you feel no tired nor bored when you are into the W212 regardless of driver or passenger

E550
2011 E550, P2, etc., etc. ~23,000 miles.

2,524 mile road trip, round trip between Placitas, NM and Wenatchee, WA, in May. Often 80mph+, many long grades, etc. Mileage measured at the gas pump (not by the computer) was 28.8 mpg.

That V8 just loafs along . . .

The identical trip last year got 27.1 mpg. Maybe the car is just breaking in.

Best to use your own gauge and measure tires in early AM when they are cold and sun has not hit them. I use a hand pump to add air to mine. Not much effort to add a few lbs. to each one if needed and I get exact TP.

The E is truly a fantastic long distance machine. I do have to tip my hat to the S class as the best highway boat, at least to my backside. I can't wait for a nice Blutec S350 to come off lease in a couple years. That to me is the ultimate highway sled. And, the B&O audio is simply amazing.
