I am not a fan of muscle cars in general, but spending 50 hours polishing this one kind of grew on me.

Great analogy! I loved hot wheels when I was a kid - setting up the track to run down the stairway, and mom yelling when she tripped over the cars that we forgot to pick up.

Hey - looks and style are always subjective.

I just read a post on AudiWorld Forum where he compared the looks of the E350/550 to a Honda Accord.

Then why do they remove the muffler? How does 130db of volume do anything but frighten kids and make people look at them when the roar by? It's pathetic. And don't tell me "loud pipes save lives"--that's complete bull. They're all playing Easy Rider and they just luuuuuv the attention and they don't give a ***** about annoying their neighbors and everyone else who happens to be in their noxious vicinity.

My point exactly--even the luxurious sedan E550 will, in the hands of a good driver, compete favorably with most of these "muscle" cars. When you have to advertise like these cars do, you're compensating for something, just like the loud bikers. "Look at me, look at me, pleazzzzzzz look at me"

That's true, but from my experience, it's a small percentage of MB drivers. Most that I've met at meets and club events don't have a whiff of this about them at all. They love the cars for various reasons, but showing off to someone generally isn't one of them.

If I could do it all over again I'd stick to a C6 Z06. A very close second is the Shelby GT500with 660 HP!!

I have a CLS 63 with 670 HP tune. I love pulling up to a Shelby at light and watch him struggling to keep up.

Ohh, those Audi guys. They're just mad that the new A6 looks like.... umm.... every other generic car on the road with a big "Audi-Alien" face.... Not to mention like an A4.... and an A8.

Not to mention, the E looks nothing like an Accord. If you want to knock it, at least say it looks like a Camry which is closer to the truth. The Accord looks more like a 5-Series.... and of course, the ever so bland A6.

Hmm..... I'm sure the Shelby guy's also smiling that a big Benz AMG needed a big tune to keep up with his rickety ole' thing?

Yup, and overall cost and depreciation are a fraction of the Benz.

Harley's without mufflers...

Reminds me of the South Park Harley episode

Thumbs up

I caught up with a Camaro SS on twisty country road last week in my C63 renntech mod 2009, he took off , at the end of his 15 mile run, at speeds I shall not say, he did not think my AMG was boring.
