Taking your car to another dealer won;t make a difference. two dealers near me both said the problem has to be replicated by the technician since no codes are thrown. Once they replicate the problem, they'll fill out a form to send to the MB rep and so on and so on. Very protocol minded.

I don't believe this is temperature related since on both instances the temps were low and the car was even in the garage when this happened on one occasion. I'm thinking your video is our best lead at this point since it's evidence of what's happening to these cars. The tech I spoke to said they have had issues with the audio gateway in these cars but he won't look into it unless they can replicate the issue.

Mine was definitely not temp related.
The other issue is when my issues first started we were dealing with tsunami inspired parts shortages.
I was told that many of these parts whether command, or audio gateways were being. ecycled due to this. Nobody knows what/why we are having these issues. Since these are sporadic the part gets pulled then sent to MBUSA for QA. Many will pass QA because of the sporadic nature. Then they get sent back into the pool to be sent out to put into the next guys car.

After almost a year I got fed-up. I traded it in.

Mine has now done it three times - this afternoon was the third. I got my car well before the tsunami. Mine did sit in 90-degree heat for several hours, which is unusual.

Last word from MB USA is that the problem is with software in last upgrade and that "they" expect to have a solution within two weeks. Current problems started following an upgrade by the dealer. MB states that replacing hardware will not solve problem. In the meantime, the Command system continues to malfunction periodically. Has anyone gotten similar information from MB recently?

Yes I heard that the first 2 times they reloaded NEW software on mine back in February,
I think they simply do not know what the problem is.
benefit is I got latest software that many didn't have even in newer cars. but still was not effective in fixing my problem

So then why the hell are they calling me to come pick up the car today Friday 8/3/12? Well Joe goes on to explain that this "expert" has given instructions for the dealership to contact me weekly and see if the problem has been resolved or not. What am I, a guinea pig now? I'm beginning to wonder if maybe I should take my car to a different MB dealership. This is really getting ridiculous.

Jawohl

I would love to be a "quinean pig" on this. If your dealer has been instructed to find out from you how it is it means there is corporate interest to solve this issue. This could lead to a fix for all of us.

Bulletin LI54.10-P-051049 "may" be applicable in that value transmitted by the battery sensor to the rear SAM is too low causing consumers (i.e.: COMAND, etc.) to intermittently shut off - recommends using diagnosis in SAM to read out actual voltage transmitted by battery sensor to SAM comparing it with voltage measured directly at battery using multimeter. If a difference > 1V is measurable, battery sensor must be replaced.

For me the audio mute issue has not reappeared since the SDAR (sat radio) firmware was reprogrammed. It is a known tsb now.

This was done 10/25/12 and has totally fixed it. I used to have the no sound problem at least once a week, not one time since the update.

LOSS OF AUDIO E-Class (W212)

I have the same problem, bought a CPO E350 1 year ago and the Audio recently stopped working. Dealer showed me that there was a leak and water had corroded the wires under the passenger front seat. Not covered by warranty. They wanted $3,500 to replace the Media Manager module, Carpet and wires. I will fix it myself and let you know.

Is your car still under warranty? If yes why is it not covered by it, i.e. how did the water leak inside the car? That should be covered as well as damage it did.
