The rest of the 2013 E appears to be the same, at least from what I could see.
Typically our start stop does not use the starter if it can help it. Our system detects which cylinder is ready to fire and it uses the direct injection system to squirt some fuel in the right cylinder and then fire the cylinder to start it back up. Pretty good stuff actually and if the load on the electronics or AC is determined to cause the engine to re-fire shortly after it stops it will keep the engine running, especially good in the warm climate states. If there is no good cylinder to fire it will use the starter to bump one into position.

Isn't that what it says, a 3.5 liter engine?

Went to dealer to activate stop and go eco system. It is not in the car even though it was part of the specs for 2013. There were also three other 2013 E350's in stock and none had the eco sto and go. What is going on? The 2013 C class and GLK had it.

I believe that Petee is correct. The 2013 Dealer Ordering Guide for the E-350 states that Eco Start/Stop is included. The dealers are still telling their customers it will be included. Mercedes must have decided at the last minute to leave it off the E-class. Does anybody know the background on this decision?

I have a 2013 and it has E->S button on the center console (not near the radio controls on the dashboard like the 2012 manual shows). Is the "E" the eco start stop? I don't have my manual with me to check it out and the ones online are still only for 2012.

The E& S buttons are for economy and sport mode. The stop and go is on the dash with a button named Eco. On my car all that's there is a blank button.

I believe that is referring to the E400 hybrid only.

It's from the March 2012 edition of the "MY 2013 E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet Dealer Ordering Guide" listed under the "Highlights" page with other changes for 2013.

On the page three? The way I read it, it is referring to only the E400 hybrid.

Yes, ECO start/stop is only on the E400 HYBRID sedan.
larrygadis is referring to the Coupe/Cabriolet dealer ordering guide, which I don't have, not the sedan/wagon ordering guide.

So did Mercedes have a problem with the ECO stop/start feature?

As far as I know, MB's ECO system works nicely and my car has it as well . It works nice and neat and I feel no jolt when it gets the engine restarted when my foot is off the brake pedal
