E350 Bluetec first service at 5k or 10k miles?

When is the first service on the E350 Bluetec due and what is involved? Havn't had a chance to check the service manual and I noticed I just passed 5,000 miles on a road trip I'm on.

I know on my '11 Audi A4, it required an oil change at 5,000 miles (and then every 10,000 thereafter)...was wondering if the E350 Bluetec has something similar.

I had the tires rotated at 5k, oil is next week at 9500 miles. I'm told the first oil service is 10k and every 10k.

10K is fine for the oil IMHO. I did 5k on our ML for the first change and since researched and feel it's a waste of money.

You bring up a good point on the tires though. Did you take it to MB for the rotation? 2 MB dealers have told me just rotate every 20k, which seems too long for me and against all tire manufacturers warranties. Then again our ML now has 40K+ and just rotated at 20k and they seem very evenly worn...

The Assyst-Plus Service indicator will tell you when it's time for service!
It will show you ""Service A in **** miles"".

10K is what is needed. I do usually rotate my tires in between.

In my opinion 10 000 miles for the firt oil change is too long. Maybe for the following changes but for the first time 5000 is better.

I do my oil every 5000 miles. The dealer changes it at every 10 000 miles per the schedule but I change it in between.

Cheapest insurance for the engine is good oil in it.

Well the maybe 5k miles is also too long. How about every 3k miles? Every 1000 miles? Every oil change?

BINGO.

Oil and engine technology has changed significantly over the years. The BMW OCI in Europe is now 3 years or 30k km - about 18k miles.

10k is very conservative these days.
