please help respected and wise MB gurus
I am all set to purchase a 2013 model E300 and this being my first step into the mercedes world i am quite excited and apprehensive. I came across tons of articles talking about redesigns in the E class in both 2014 and the massive product over haul in 2015 and am wondering if I am taking a wrong move by purchasing one so close to the remodel. I will be using the car for a minimum of 5 years but i do not want to feel depreciated within a year of purchase. Please please do advice. Awaiting you replies.

The facelift will come out for the 2014 model year. So we should have it available about a year from now, give or take. I'd say by July 2013 they'd be available.
Edit: Wait, E300? That means you're in Europe or somewhere not in the U.S? Therefore you guys might get it sooner, as the U.S usually gets 'em several months after EU.

Hang on...I went to the Detroit Auto Show last January and saw the new E300 displayed...a diesel hybrid...and was told that that model was "Europe only".And it is,in fact, currently listed on their German website.

Cars today generally have a 4/6 year run before a major redesign and a facelift about 3/4 into the run.
Ist year models generally have more teething problems and it is generally recommended not buying the first run. With some manufacturers, models appear in Europe a year or so before they show up in the US so some of the bugs are worked out, but MB generally releases the models in Europe and the US during the same model year.
My advice? Buy the car now. Problems have been worked out and you can enjoy a few years of the current model with few problems.

Thank you for the responses guys.. You r right the E 300 is the detuned 250 hp version of the same engine car as the U.S
Since there are already pics on the net with a slightly face lifted E class with only front and rear end worked on I am guessing that would be the 2014 model and the complete redesign would come some time in 2015.. But once again this is just speculation on my part..
So shall I go ahead and take the 2013 model or should I hold off??

On my way home today I saw a white E300. Was confused until I pulled up beside it at a stoplight. I glanced over quickly and caught a glimpse of the decal that read blue-something. Thought it said bluetec until I took a second look and it was actually blue efficiency

Any new car that you buy will experience it's maximum depreciation within the first year of purchase. The value of your car will drop like a rock the moment you drive it off the lot.

MB usually runs in 7 year cycles. There is a facelift next year on the 2014 model and the next generation car will arrive in N/A in the Fall of 2016 as a 2017 model.
The mid cycle is exactly that. It usually covers the last three years and the changes are minor. Therefore if you want the next generation car, you have a four year wait. You should be trading your 2013 by then.

As with any car, the "new" model will also have a higher price simply because it is different. So buying now saves money in that respect.
Haven't seen the actual changes for sure, but I prefer the four lights of the "E" class to the rumored two lights of the next gen "E". Sets them apart from other M-B's.
