Auxiliary AND iPod?

Auxiliary AND iPod?
So my E350 has the iPod kit installed, but there's also an aux jack in my glove box. I dont have any male to male 3.5mm cables laying around to test this but since the iPod is the default source for audio to the "AUX" option in comand how would I be able to use the aux jack instead? Just plug n play if theres no ipod connected? Change some settings? Remove the entire iPod kit?

It should be the AUX option when you plug in the male to male jack. I did not have to remove anything. I thought ipod had their own category.

No the iPod just works through the AUX option, not a separate section; I'm about to get a male to male cable so I'll let you know how it turns out

Well I know as a fact that I use AUX for the male to male connection. I use it all the time. Maybe they go through the same? For the iphone/ipod I can scroll through my music through the car's command system I believe if I remember correctly.

Well I just tried it and it didn't work, do you have both the apple connector on the left side of the glove compartment and the aux jack in front on top? I plugged it in, played the music, and hit AUX and nothing happened I think I might have to disable the iPod kit for this

My media interface have many options, so I can select either iPod or other source as AuX. Actually I use it to play music from my Android phone. What I really miss that the iPod cable doesn't have USB plug (has to be ordered separately). I used to have USB in my BMW, it is very convenient to connect just hard drive.

I still remember that iPod was its own option.. Aux was just plug it in, choose aux, and playa from your phone/ipod through the earphone jacks. I am not with my car right now but i'm pretty sure if you have the W212 it shouldn't really make a difference on where the plugs are. Are you sure the volume was up on your phone or ipod when you were playing it?
Also, I did not have to remove or unplug anything to use the ipod or aux methods.

well I have a 2010 E350 and I'm 100% sure that I select "AUX" on the center comand console when I have an iPod/iPhone plugged in to play music and that when i have something plugged in with the 3.5mm auxilliary jack it does not seem to work. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I dont even think there's an "iPod" option present anywhere in my comand actually..

BT audio is cool, but it's not perfect. For most (if not all) of us, you cannot use Comand to control the iPhone besides next/previous song and pause/play. Also, if you are streaming music to your phone and then to the car, sometimes the reception gets spotty. I keep a backup iPod in my car attached to the cable.

Does anyone know how to make AUX jack work? Is there a special aux cable required?
Thanks,

Did you ever figure out what to do here? From other threads I've read the aux is basically unplugged if you have the ipod integration and you just need to get in there and unplug the ipod and plug in the aux. I'm not experienced with these things BUT I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask.

I just need the right converter from iphone 4 to Lightning 8 pin Cable Adapter with AUDIO CABLE CORD so i can use with my iphone 5.

OnlyGerman replied to a similar thread of mine. Apparently, both the aux connector and the ipod connector both connect to the command head unit, but only one at a time. Supposedly, there is a splitter or switch that can be used. I will be searching for that, although for me, I believe the ipod cable/jack/connection will be enough. I plan to get the ipod touch and move on!
