Upgrade my command center so I can stream music

Go to MB Service Dept. tell them that your backup camera sometimes don't show any picture when you put gear in reverse, and also audible background noise during calls and sometimes muting of audio in middle of calls. Service Bulletin LI82.85-P-051046 AND LI82.70-P-054266 require the Service dept. to do software update for free. But just make sure ask for update to using software# 0009026706-001. write it down and give it to service advisor to give it to service tech. this fixes the problems you complaining about and give you BT audio streaming along with it to allow you to stream your music. may take a day for them to do it. when you call to make service appt. point out the Service bulletins above if service advisor try to dismiss the problems or play hardball.

I have a 2010 E550 coupe. I had to have my Command system upgraded in order to stream. Ever since works like a charm. The dealer did not want to do it at first. So make sure you first turn BT Audio on in Engineering mode. Then go to the dealer and complain that it does not work properly. Thats what I did. Basically without the update I could stream music but my phone would not work and vice versa.

Other problems
Not interested in Bluetooth audio streaming, but I have experienced the following:
called party has difficulty understanding or cannot hear at all; voice inputs via voice control are misunderstood; backup camera sometimes does not display when transmission placed in reverse, cell phone shows 4-5 bars, but COMAND shows 1 bar.
Hopefully dealer will accept that these are sufficient to update COMAND.

If you complain about any intermittent issues experience by other W212 owners on this post
Service Bulletin LI82.85-P-051046 AND LI82.70-P-054266 require them to do SW update using SW#0009026706-001. If I had BT Streaming to begin with, I will not have purchased Ipod solely as storage device to allow me to play music...BT streaming allow both music stored in mobile phone memory device (MicroSD ..etc) and Pandora etc..to be stream thru Command audio output. The service dept want to be pay by MBUSA for doing work...if car still under warranty little push back from them

I make a list of TSB's that might apply to my car as they show up here. I noted one,
LI82.70-P-051455, that seemed to apply to COMAND updates also. Does it?

Your warranty should cover update NTG 4.5.
They dont want to do it because it takes 2 hrs or so. They have to do it if you request it. I was told to say that my phone cuts out, but I had other issues so they did it while it was in and I didnt have to make up story.
after update....be sure to unpair phone then pair new....then turn car off...turn car on and should work

Update does not take 2 h, only 45 min.
2+ hours is time to update NAVI data.

Just made an appt to update.
I will be bringing that PDF with me too. Also, MB states that the artist / track are available on the instrument cluster. Why does mine just show the song when plugged in?

Make sure you turn on the Art Cover function on the Comand Menu . You can find it as Gracenotes under Audio Menu I believe

FWIW - we are having the same problem
Tell the dealer you are having intermittent voice issues with the phone connection. Tell them that the caller cuts out and sometimes they can't hear you either. This is good enough to get the Service Manager to do a command update to correct the problem. If it isn't, find a new dealer for your service.
MB should put these reflashes online. If I can upgrade the firmware on my printer or HP server, then I should be able to do so with an internet connection through my phone or tablet into the Comand. There is an established discipline to write these instructions which obviously MB lacks even within MB. I would confine them to the Comand system only for safety reasons. If folks are uncomfortable flashing the dealer can do it.

This is not splitting hair. It Makes a big difference between less than an hour and more than two. You said in your own post that the dealers don't want to do it because it takes two hours or more.
If it really is two hours then it cannot be done during an oil change. If it takes 45 minutes it can be done at the same time as they change the oil and do the other "service A" items. It would not extend the needed time to keep the car in the shop.

we have a '13 GLK359 4matic. The BT phone connection originally recognised the (android) phone and now does not. I shall troubleshoot it this blizzard weekend as it is illegal and unsafe to hold the phone in your hand. Will check with dealer for reflash.

You may want to try the "External authorization" option. This is when you set the Comand system to wait and start the pairing at the phone.
You can find this under the "Options" tab on the top right corner of the pairing screen.
