Hi is there a difference between the leathers in the e350 and e550. I am in Canada so not sure if that would make a difference.

 

i don't think there is a difference. only mb-tex, leather and nappa leather. correct me if i'm wrong.

 

I thought that the standard leather in the e550 was nappa

I think nappa is standard on the E550 coupe and optional on the W212 550

 

For the sedan, there is no difference in the leather between E350 and E550. Both are standard leather (not Nappa) with ARTICO leather dashboard/upper door panels. The E300 gets ARTICO with the plastic dashboard.

For the coupe/cabrio, the E350 gets standard leather (not Nappa) and the E550 gets Nappa leather with Nappa leather dashboard.

I'm pretty sure I remember the tag saying Nappa when I picked up my 550....

Thanks yyz I have seen a 2012 e550 with perforated seats and the leather seemed like nappa to me and certainly a lot softer than the e350s with leather not artico but maybe it wasn't nappa .Can you get a e550 with nappa or do you have to get the designo package? I am in Canada

The leather on the E350 and E550 sedan is identical. The perforation comes with 401 climate comfort seats, otherwise they're not perforated.

designo Nappa leather isn't available on the E-Class Sedans in Canada anymore as the changeover to the facelift model occurs in the spring (designo is always restricted for the last few months before facelift/new generation). Even prior to now it was very rare as it was only possible via special order.
