UGHHHH - Winter Wheel Package from 350 doesn't fit on 550

So in my haste to upgrade from my 11-350 to my 11-550, I didn't do a thorough enough investigation into my winter wheel combo to determine if it was a true direct fit. Well it's not...so now I have a 2 yr old set of wheels and snows, that I need to either sell outright or just get wheels that fit and then swap out the TPMS and snow tires - then potentially sell the wheels. This sucks...I had the rears on, and then started on the fronts and was looking at it saying damn that looks really tight in there...let me call TireRack to be sure...they were more than happy to give me the bad news. Oh well.

Only MBs - the best or nothing
1. What are the wheels' sizes: diameter and offsets?

2. Did you actually try them on E550 or you based it stricktly on what TireRack said?

1) 17x8 45mm offset, but they have a drop center design Moda EB1
2) Yes - they don't clear the calipers and at the drop center part, the caliper mount sticks out past the spoke - not a matter of adding a 5 or 10mm spacer - it is alot. Not a big fan of spacers anyway.

Not sure what "drop center" design is, but by just looking at the wheel (on TireRack's site) it seems that it should fit with lower offset, which of course will require spacers which you do not want. Well this proves once again that offset, while is the most important, is not the only parameter determining if wheel will fit - design of spokes on the inside plays a role as well. If I were you, I would try 10mm spacers (use them all the time without any issues) at all corners before giving up on your wheels.

Thanks for following up - the drop center basically means that the spoke is a bit of a concave pattern...dropping in from the outer lip...

I know for sure that 10mm will clear the caliper face...my concern is more the mounting "blocks" on either side of the caliper that currently without spacers are protruding well into the open space between spokes.

My buddy has some 10mm spacers I am going to try and see if that works. My svc director said 10m was probably max I should go anyway. If not my options on wheels are limited but not horrendous. I will probably go with the OZ Envy, but still not sure how that will look....
