2014 Ordering Guide

Haven't been around in a few days but couldn't find this discussed.

On http://www.benzblogger.com/ they discuss the preliminary 2014 ordering guide.

Most notable to me is the potential diesel changes. Will wait and see if it really happens but addition of a 4matic diesel and calling it the E250. Based on the HP/Torque looks like it will really be the E250 4 cylinder? If given the choice when i got mine i would have considered that motor if the efficiency is really in the 40s.

Also big item to me seems like vented seats will be part of P1? If vented seats are available with MBTex that would be a huge improvement for me. Always wanted them but not the leather with small kids.

Also mention of a wooden shift knob to go along with the steering wheels.

Instrument cluster to change to CLS style also.

Wooden shifter ? I have no idea but I assume CLS Shooting Brake style or W176 A Class's .
I like present W212's gauge cluster right side is temps , farthest left side is fuel gauge and by clock . May be keeping these basic instruments as they are , replacing the clock with trip computer readout would be awesome

Not a fan of vents seats lol

In regards to the "wooden shifter" I think that's just how MB's computer works. I remember reading something either an order guide or fine print before for some MB with the column shifter and it mentioned the wood wheel package includes a wooden shifter when it really doesn't. I think it may just be improper labeling of the options as in the past when we still had floor mounted shifters, the wood wheel package comes with a wooden shifter.

Thanks for the link! Very interesting. Wonder if the E250 will be marketed as the most affordable E-class to compete w/ the 4-cylinder 5-series and A6? I think I'd choose the E250 b/c it should still have decent acceleration but (hopefully) amazing fuel economy (or maybe not, w/ the addt'l weight of the AdBlue equipment). Initially thought it was weird for them to get rid of the E350, but I guess the gas E350 has similar EPA numbers now?

It's entirely possible they'll force you to get leather if you want P1 (which is what I think they do for the C-class now). Bleh. I'd love ventilated seats w/o the addt'l expense of leather, too. There's also apparently "regular" leather and "premium" leather. Wonder if the "premium" leather will include an Artico dashboard? One can only hope.... And now P1 has folding mirrors....

I assume the wood shift knob is a "typo" (meant for the European models, some of which I think have the shifter in the center console).

I am looking at it right now, I think the ventilated front seats on P1 is for the E550 only since they are standard leather. I could be wrong about this but the Heated seats have (Non V8) next to it and the ventilated seats have (Heated seats std. E550, package adds active ventilated). Also ventilated seats are a stand alone option on the E350 model, requires Premium Pkg and Leather. So it looks like ventilated is only added to the E550 due to standard leather.
