Hesitating Tranny

2 weeks into driving my new E350 lux 4-matic, I notice the tranny sometimes hesitates at lower speeds - thru 25mph. Sometimes kicks too. Would this a result of driving in 'E' mode? Or just a special 'feature' of the Benz I should get used too and quit complaining?

Unless it's damaging or something, watch it for a while.

The crazy car "adapts" to your driving style, and the thing actually changes its behavior --- shift points. If after a number of miles you still don't like it, report it.

Not sure what you mean by hesitates. Are you saying it shifts slowly or hard or something else. It may be that you are not used to E mode as it starts in 2nd gear so that might be it.

I have noticed that too . Sometimes it feels like kicking but not jerking by any means and only times it ( rarely) happens when I take my foot off the throttle and below 3000 RPM . I take it the car wants to shift at speed but you take your foot off the gas pedal this times you try to inhibit your car to speed up and tranny hesitates because it already is ready to shift up

Thankfully you are talking about your car. When I read the title I thought you were talking about a visit to some Vegas nightclub.

Thanks, that's exactly it! So then a 'feature' of the modern Benz automatic. Will take the advice from yourself and others too and try and teach it to behave i.e. smooth acceleration and try not to back-off under 3K.

Well...strangely I have the exact same post in another forum more relevant to your line of thinking but let's not go there

I recommend not to baby your car. When it learns "Granny Style" driving that is what it offers to you. Your next complaint will be about the gas pedal being slow. For this you will want to do the 2 min 7 sec reset.

I don't care how I drive and my car is smooth with gear changes. I remember only once a slight jerk and this happened just after the tranny service was done, i.e. the fluid change.

Initially I had no idea what the hell you were talking about, then I scrolled up and spit my not quite swallowed drink all over the computer screen!

Ok, I go you. same for me, but with my last 3 cars (all Infinities) as well (<-edit - I have done it on my E350 as well). taking my foot off the accelerator when the car is about to shift gives a pretty good kick like it starts to up shift but then changes its mind and goes back down. It was a habit I had from my cars with manual transmissions.
