ok... just did some more research.. i guess they work after 10 windshield washes BETWEEN vehicle start ups. I swear my other cars did it way more than that.... which honestly was annoying. this would be better and they would hardly ever work... which makes sense as to why i havent seen them function. if you have more info please share it... but i think i answered my own question.

I believe the headlamp washers come on after 10 windshield washes with the headlights in the "on" position. If I need them what I do is turn the headlamps on and just keep pushing the wiper stalk in until they come on. They make a soapy mess out of the front of the car though.

haha, I really never have depended on them, although it's interesting the knob has to be to the ON position? Mine are always on auto....
I usually wipe mine down anyway, but they do advertise them to function, so they must do something....
wonder if they can deploy water while moving at high speeds, or any speed.....seems they'd be more effective that way
I remember being disappointed when I found out I couldn't control them like in the years past.....you know, for re-positioning for squirting people

I had the 2011 E350 with P2. On that car the head light washers did not come on before 10 times I used the widshiels washer. I tested for this three times and it was always I had to hit the wash 10 times for it to spray on the lights. And this was always on highway speeds over 65 MPH.
My current 2010 E550 is different and much better with this. When I drive and hit the windshield washer for the first time also the head light washers come on. I don't know if it takes another 10 times to get them to spray again but from the first spray I'm ok.
