Been thinking about S350s all day since reading this thread...

I thought the same thing about the power trunk close. But now I have to say it is very functional. In all this bad weather, the trunk is completely covered in all the road salt and mud. Getting to close the trunk without having my hands (don't like gloves) get all that crap on them is very functional. Especially if I am loading the trunk to get into the car. Helps keep the nasty stuff off of the steering wheel. (obviously your hands get a little dirty opening the door)

GoBlando: I am sure it will grow on me. There was a time when I could not understand why anyone needed a heated seat. Then I got my first car with heated seats. It makes a real difference. So far, I am really digging the S, especially the seats, but, I have to confess, I still love seeing Es on the the road. Truly a very distinctive looking vehicle, that E.

Congrats! That's awesome! Must look great in Diamond White. Did it come with the AMG Sport Package (or do any S350 BT's for that matter?).
Sounds like a great deal, and that car is well worth it. The onnnly thing that *might* put the brakes on your honeymoon is if the W222, which we should see on lots in about a half a year or so, is THAT much better than it. Though, I'm not fond of M-B's newest designs and the interior of the W222 isn't looking that hot to me based on the recent revealing spy pics. As well, the W221 is already a future classic, being the first Mercedes in over a decade to bring back that classic Mercedes build quality and soul.
Looking forward to pics!
Oh, and that is an AWESOME price you got for your E! I believe it was a 2011, right? Still a great deal. I guess those BT's really hold their values.

K-A, I considered the new S arriving, but, in all honesty, it does not make any difference to me. I could not afford to purchase one of the monsters new, so, I would not be in the market with trading my E on the new S. I do now have an S to trade......lol. Nah, I have loved the W221 since they first started showing up here back in 2007. One nice thing about S class IMO (Es too for that matter), the new model does not instantly antiquate the prior model in the way BMW and others do. In fact, I still see many W220s on the road that still look great. A well maintained S transcends model years/body styles the same way that other iconic cars manage to do. As long as it is clean, shiny and well maintained, an S remains "current" for a longer time than most. The F10 is a perfect example of instantly making the prior model look old and frumpy.

Not that the W221 would not be a good looking car but W220 can look better. It can be made to look very sporty but classic at the same time. W221 is more bulky and kind of is just that.
In my opinion W220 is one of the best MB designs ever.

Arrie: 100% agree about the W220. When you see one of them parked at the Ritz Carlton or an Embassy, the thought, "an old used Benz" never comes to mind. MB sedans, as a rule, just age amazingly well from a design perspective. It lends longevity to the lifespan of the vehicle, and, no doubt is a factor in the resale values of MB Vs. other vehicles.

The W211, especially an E55 or an '09 with the AMG Package is just the epitome of timeless.
PA: That's true, but I think the "dated" BMW's are those of the E65/E60 era, which weren't pretty to begin with. The E39, E46, an E38's are all as timeless as a car design can get, IMO (many consider them to be the quintessential modern-classic designs). I think the reason the F10 and F01 era dates the E65 and E60 era so heavily is because these new cars harken the simpler and more proportionally driven beauty of the pre-E65 gen. At least, I hope.
