Mercedes Dropping E550 From Lineup

I think it would be devastating to drop the V8 from the E Class. While the V8s are harder to find on the lots, some people will only buy V8s and AMGs are quite a bit more. Plus, the Coupe isn't available in an AMG normally.
That current V8 is so strong too, great engines for these cars. Even those of us who do not buy one, it gives us something to aspire to own.

ironically before this thread, i kinda predicted MB might entertain the idea of dropping the e550. with the introduction of a 4matic e63, the people that want performance with their luxury will go for that. while still the major majority will be in the e350 or lower.
i do like the e550 but it's kinda overlapped here by the other offerings. and due to the increasingly stringent gas efficiency rules, mb's priority will be to use the quota for its AMGs

Another thread on this forum, indicates the V8 is being dropped for the US. CAFE standards appear to be the main culprit.

I like my 550
