2013 E350 P2 headlight ??
Hi,
I need to check this again but swear the other night my headlights would
not go into high beam mode. City travel at 40 mph. They would go to
high beam with flasher control however.
Anyone else experience this?
Any weird thing like min speed requirement before high beams work?
Or light control setting that prevents high beam?
I'll try it again of course but it seemed odd.
Thanks

change the light switch setting (on the dash) from "auto" to "on" for the lights to work without the automatic sensors taking over.
If you are in auto, the high beams will never go on unless you have the stalk pushed away from you. If it's towards you, the lights will stay in low beam. If it is in auto, you can not override the sensors and turn on the high beams manually.

Thanks, it was in auto mode, in city with streetlights etc.
Are P2 supposed to move as you corner, e.g.
take a right turn and they swivel right? What restrictions
on that for speed/ high or low beams, etc?
thanks

no restrictions. they move but you need to be on a relatively dark road to notice. they move right as you begin to move the wheel, almost before the car reacts to your inputs. you might be "looking for it too late."

haven't been in countryside at night, just in town where it's lighter.
Also, was looking as I turn into driveway and thought lights would
move a lot, which is probably not the case.

If you think about it, if you are changing lanes/passing at 70 mph, you really don't want the headlights to turn.....

There is a display screen that shows you the number of degrees that the headlights are turned. I think it is under Navigation -> Position. My son finds it fun to watch the pictogram show the active headlamps as I turn corners. I'll post a picture later. I haven't tried it on the highway when changing lanes.

not sure about the speed defeat described above...
I drive into my garage from an alley, so I need to do a 3 point turn to get in, and the headlights comically "look" back and forth when I do so. Plus I swear there is another lamp that lights up sideways to the curb level when I do this maneuver.
I also drive through a gas lit street neighborhood (Riverside, IL) as I come in from the west, and its <25 MPH so the sweeping headlights were made for this. Even coming up to the curved street stop signs the headlights appear to be eyes right or left.
I am really psyched to see the info graphic of the degree of the lights turning, I will geek out on that tomorrow.
Cheers,
Bob
emoticons thanks to my son Max btw

MBWorld Fanatic!
I believe this should be corner lamps that I posted a topic about it , Headlamp Mystery and thanks to the inputs sent by forum members it turned out to be they were not mystery at all
For sake of saying something , with A symbol on the screen and you activate adaptive headlamps you can never use ftp -flash to pass- feature .Once you pull the stalk towards you this is when you can do it but you deactivate Adaptive headlamps this time .
However, I feel like MB cars with this super cool feature warns other drivers for you by flashing lights at crossroads may be I am wrong ,don't know

Actually, I think there is a speed over which the lights don't move sideways....I'm not near my manual to check. The definitely work when you're driving at 25-30 mph.
