Service Intervals

My 2012 E350 has 8,000 miles on it and is about nine months old. I now have a Service A notification showing on the dash. It was my understanding the service was due at 10,000 mies or one year, whichever came first. Is there something I am missing?

Doesn't it say "Service A due in xxxx miles"?

If it says the servive is due now at 8000 miles it means you are driving lots of city traffic.

I drive 85 - 90% highway and for me the car tells service due a couple thousand miles before it actually is. It says "Service due in 1700 miles" for example.

Regardless of this I change my oil at 5000 miles. I go to the dealer service at every 10 000 miles and change the oil myself between at 5000 miles. Best warranty for the engine if you plan to keep the car long, which I do.

It went through a countdown to reach the service now due but the countdown was based on time, not mileage.

Yep, I thought it was based on time and on some other factors, the filter's performance being one of them.
