Removing center cover above dash

The attachment from an earlier post shows the part and even the location of the retaining tabs, marked in red. I tried with a credit card, even made some special plastic pieces but no joy.

Can anyone help by being really specific about where to push (back or sides), which direction, etc.

I think the MB instructions are on AR68.10-P-1000-05EW if anyone has access.

Thanks,

Peter - trying not to break more than I fix.

Done

OK, so removing the cover is straightforward, I'd read elsewhere that there were two tabs that had to be pushed in a particular direction but in fact you simply work the back, i.e. away from windshield, up and the cover will come out.

The attached pictures show the different anchoring/locating tabs, just go gently. Once the back is up, the tabs with the metal clips are disengaged, you can press the side tabs in and then slide the whole cover back to remove.

I added a few pieces of tape backed felt and now have one less rattle.

Peter
