It is now legal in the states to be on all the time, and I've been told by friends the re-wiring, or initial wiring if installed new, isn't too difficult or costly. I just bought a 2013 (w212) e550 and I'm hoping an after-market company finds a way to provide the illuminated star for the w212 models. I think it is cool and delightfully subtle, although I doubt I would wire it to stay on all the time. From the preliminary research I've done, it appears there isn't a good chance this will become available for the w212 models - at least those like mine with Distronic. If anyone comes across this post and is aware of this badge option for 2013 w212 models w/Distronic, please reply and let me know. I'm a new Mercedes-Benz owner and I've been impressed so far by the knowledge everyone has. Especially the strong opinions! It's better than no opinions...

I'd love to see distronic get the star.......would look nice against that nice smooth face

I did find a custom grill (55 Tech Motors on eBay) that mimics the new 2014 sport model that I ordered and should receive today. While it has the star badge on the grill like the newer E class models, they don't offer an illuminated version - yet. They said they aren't close but they are working on it, the problem is they will likely have to make an entirely new grill assembly to get the OEM star to fit. Hopefully it comes out in the next few months, quite a while for me to wait if I have to get it on my new MB in 3-5 years....

Is the Illuminated Star the same size as the other MB Grille Stars or a special size..? Thanks for any help !!!
