On the way ...Finally!

It is finally on the way! I've got the VIN and ship name from my dealer this week.

My 2014 E350 Sport was built on June 17th and from the factory to the port at Bremerhaven and on the ship to me on June 19th. Using molroro.com and Marinetraffic.com, I'm impatiently tracking the Sunshine Ace as it is traveling to Cartegena, Spain and then through the Panama Canal. Then it is off to California and to my dealer soon there after. Hopefully, I'll be driving it home within another three to four weeks.

It's funny, when we cruised though the Panama Canal, there was a car carrier that accompanied our cruise ship throughout the entire transit of the canal.

I'm now starting to plan for the mods I'm going to make ... but I pretty much matched what i have in my 2010 and i did pack it full of almost all the 2014 options.

E350W
792 Palladium Silver
211 Black Leather
H14 Burl Walnut Wood Trim
P01 Premium 1 Package: COMAND® System

298 Rear Side Airbags
319 full Lighting Package
389 full KEYLESS-GO Package, with hands free access
413 Power Tilt / Sliding Panorama Sunroof
432 Active Multicontour Driver Seat
996 Parking Assist Package with surround view camera

I'm sure you will enjoy it once it arrives. The hard part now is the wait. Post some pics when you get it. Mine is the same colour as yours with most of the same options..the lights are amazing

What tires came on yours? I'm hoping they are supplying Conti's over Pirelli's, I've seen both on some previous models and I prefer the Conti's

The wait is getting really short now, as I've known this was coming since March. Just had to let the process work itself out.

Can't get the illuminated star as I will have DISTRONICs, although I wouldn't have had it unless it came with Photon Torpedoes and Phasers.

I gave up on the Night Vision option, as it wasn't available when i configured the car and I only used it twice, both on Halloween nights.

I'm very interested in seeing/feeling how the new intelligent Driving (nanny) systems keep me safely behind the others cars and keep me in my lanes with the full Driver Assist options.

I'm also curious how the new Surround Camera and hands-free trunk access works. . I guess I'll even let it park me a couple times too, although I can't imagine using it on a regular basis.

Who can imagine NOT having IDS's these days?! Actually, they were on my car as a fluke the first time and now I just gotta have them.

When I ordered my 2012 E I negotiated to have them exchange the factory Conti's for Conti DWS. No problem. My cost was remounting and balancing plus $19 (correct). The dealer can always use the takeoff's for stock.

Also did a similar exchange for 2013 GLK350. Went to Michelin MXV4's. Cost? No charge except for remounting. This is not a problem for the dealer if he wants to really help you buy a car.

I am not a fan of oem conti's that's why I had them changed out for the DWS. DWS is a far better rated tire. Cost are the same. Check w/Tirerack.

Samkimg,
Great car you built. Love the colors and options.

Who provided your VIN number? My new car was scheduled to be built last Thursday, the 20th. and my dealer says he has not received the VIN.
Also, how did you get the name of the ship your car is on?

Thanks in advance.

My dealer provided the VIN as soon as they were notified that the vehicle was built. They didn't know to call Montvale for the ship. but after I mentioned this to them, they called and told me it was on the Sunshine Ace.

My delivery to the West Coast is going through the Panama Canal, yours may be to a different port. But, hopefully your wait will too be short, Happy Sailing!

Thanks for your input.
I contacted the dealer, told him New Jersey had the data and he requested the detail information about the status of the car.
The good news is it was built on the 14th of June, six days earlier than he told me last week, and is already on a ship headed to Baltimore. Scheduled to arrive July 1st.
Using the Maritime site you provided I can now watch the progress across the Atlantic.
Thank you so much for your quick and informative reply.
