E Classy

I applaud the color choice and agree that more changes WILL drive your salesman crazy ... But, isn't that an occupational hazard of being a salesman?!

My car, with the same exterior color and a black leather interior remains mostly cool in the latest heat due to good tinting and always parking with my sunshades (front and back) always up so I wouldn't worry with the lighter leather colors.

Quote: so my build was listed as "borderline changeable" in the system, but my SA was able to get the color change to take. it is now going to be palladium silver with porcelain/black leather and brown satin ash wood trim.

reasons for palladium over black were due to keeping the car cool in all the socal sunshine and keeping it (appearing) cleaner between washes & waxes. it's also a long-range diesel cruiser and keeping black looking tip-top would be a nightmare. porcelain seats will also help keep the cool after a day in the parking lot at work.

i'm still torn over the decision, but can now rest easy at least.

ultimately, it came down to this logic:

1.) cars with nice blue-based metallic paint tend to change right before your eyes depending on the lighting.

2.) this paint is listed as "indigo" which sits right on the fence between blue and violet. it is both blue and violet.

3.) due to #1 and #2, this car will sometimes appear to be purple.

4.) therefore, this car is purple.

not to mention the fact that even if it was all blue and gray, it is not what i was expecting it to look like anyway. so, onward...

kinda not feeling the porcelain leather anymore either, but figure the sale's guys would flip out if i tried to change that too!
Porcelain leather is very nice but much of how it will look down the road depends on what you wear. Wearing jeans or similar clothing with cause dye transfer and you will knock yourself out trying to keep it clean.

If, on the other hand, you generally wear suits and light colored Docker type pants then you should be fine.

Good choices!

I have been very happy with my Pallidium Silver and light gray interior. Have had no problems with the interior, but I do not wear blue jeans and never have. Of course mine is MBTex, so that may be a factor.
I prefer light interiors because it keeps interior cooler and psychologically makes it seem larger and more open or brighter.
Regardless, Happy Motoring!

same here, i bought mine used and initially i was looking for a white one but found a palladium silver one with black interior and aluminum that i really liked. I love the palladium silver at night, but a little too light in direct sunlight. I have something to complain about for every color so really just be happy its not a totally weird color.

i saw a gorgeous brand new E550 coupe the other day but it was a terrible shade of lighter blue with white seats. i was shocked to see a man driving it and not an old lady. again, different strokes for different folks and whatever looks good to you is the most important but that color combo did not work for me at.

You could still try to change it. I'm not a big fan of MB's blues other than designo Mystic Blue. They do silver and grey well. We just went with white, which seems to work very well on W211s and W212s.

Seen one in person. It's a very nice darker blue and you won't have issues falling into that blue category you don't want. It's very similar to my Steel Grey that is coming in next month, from far away you stare and think it's black but once it's closer it stands out. Enjoy and post pics!

Quote: i have decided to try and change the color. purple is not my thang!

it's now between palladium and black, still keeping the porcelain/black leather.

Go Palladium Silver. It probably is the best color for these cars. I had one and it is AWESOME. Also the easiest color to keep clean, i.e. you don't see it is dirty that easy so you don't need to wash it nearly as often as some other colors, like black is almost every day...

Just curious Martinlarose, what is the white bar below your brakelight used for? I've noticed the white area on the trunk is for reverse light but as for the rest I could have sworn when turning on turn signals the brakelight strands were still used for the signal.

Well, should have read the thread further to see you actually changed the color to the Palladium Silver so disgard my earlier post. Very good choice regardless what the interior has.

Those aren't lights or white bars - those are merely reflections.
