Distronic plus with steering assist
Has anyone driven the 2014 with Distronic Plus with steering assist? The feature was supposed to be available in July. I am wondering how much steering assist there is. Can you just rest your hand on the wheel and have it maintain it's lane?
I am not interested in speculation. I have heard enough of that from salesmen who have never driven it and given me 3 or4 different stories.

It takes a bit to adapt to the concept of allowing the car to brake for traffic ahead, but it does, although it appears that if you approach stopped traffic it requires intervention. I believe the manual indicates that it does not recognize stationary object. As to maintaining "it is" lane (sic), the steering wheel vibrates and nudges when even coming near to a lane marker. You still need to actively steer, or the lane keeping system will shut itself down. Also, if the cameras don't see a lane marker, you're on your own, and on anything more than a gentle curve, it gets confused. Hope this helps.
