Scratches on door sill where it says "Mercedes-Benz"

I'm proud to have purchased my first m-b this week. I purchased a 2010 E350 with P2 and AMG rim package. The driver's door sill has some deep scratches down the section that says "Mercedes Benz" that will drive me crazy if I don't fix it right away. I purchased the car in Ohio and my wife is driving it home to North Carolina on a work trip, so unfortunately I don't have the car here to share pictures until tomorrow night.

I have a few questions about the door sill. (1) Do all door sills say Mercedes-Benz with or without illumination? (2) Can you only replace the cover/top section that is scratched? (3) If I'm replacing them anyway is it cost effective to add the illuminated sills if I do not have them already? (4) Where should I buy OEM parts?

Brakes - I had the car inspected before purchasing it and the front brakes came back needing to be replaced in 5000 miles. The dealer replaced the pads but not the rotors. Do the rotors typically need to be replaced when the pads are replaced? Can the rotors be turned? A mechanic just told me my Land Rover's rotors always need to be replaced when you replace the pads. I don't know if this is true either I guess.

I know these are newb questions, but I did try the search feature first and did not find anything.

Thanks,

Robby

Welcome, congrats. You'll be happy.

Check out ebay for prices of plain and illuminated sill plates and go from there. I believe the wiring for illuminated sills is already there but research to verify.

"Typically" yes. Depends on the rotor wear. It's no longer cost effective to turn rotors.....short answer.

My sills are scratched after 2.5 years.

I once considered illuminated sills, but I can't help but think that they would scratch even worse, and it would look even worse in context.

This is a car. We get in and out. We have feet . . . with shoes . . . that have been in gravel.

Gonna happen . . .

Thank you both! Great information that I will use in my process.

I look forward to the car arriving this evening so I can make more educated decisions.

Thanks again,

Robby

Hyperion -

I finally got the car this afternoon. It is so sweet. It has illuminated sills, and driver assist that I was not even aware of until I drove it tonight! The scratches on the sill are barely noticeable. The ambient lighting is so cool at night. We bought the car for my wife but now I want one too.

How could I tell if it has parking assist? Are there any other options it could have without 4matic or the glass roof?

I'm in Wilmington. You?

Thank you for the kind words.
