2014 E250 Bluetec 4matic
I know there will be people that will doubt the claims of this new engine but I thought it would be helpful to post my experiences. I purchased a 2014 e250 bluetec and did the European delivery program. I drove the car approximately 1500 miles through varied terrain in German, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Italy and Slovakia.
I had the opportunity to regularly cruise at 140 MPH (After break in). My mileage at 80 -100 was consistently 43-45 MPG. When cruising back roads at 50-60 MPG with a fully loaded car I consistently got 55-65 MPG. This is real world, a new engine and not hypermiling it. I took a picture as proof of driving time, and average speed.
Fantastic card in every respect!

1. The US model E250 Bluetec is speed-limited to 130 mph.
2. I've gone over 12,000 miles on the same autobahn roads after a German delivery. Mixed driving-- 1/2 back roads, 1/2 autobahn (up to 110/120 normally)-- gets me ~31-32 mpgs. The best I've registered was 45.6 mpgs on a backroad trip averaging ~40mph.
3. I love my Bluetec (and I've got my delivery photo for proof-- where's yours?), but your claims are not in this world. Or you've got a bad sensor...

We've got about 2000km on our e250 4matic. According to the trip computer, we've averaged 42.8 mpg on mixed driving. Efficient highway driving generally gets us ~55 mpg.
I'm not buying what you're selling:

1. Are these figures based on imperial mpg ?
2. Have you (or any other E250BT owner) determined the margin of error between the trip computer and actual mpg based on fill-ups ?

US gallons. I haven't had the car long enough to run a parallel 'pumped litre' test so I'm relying entirely on the trip computer - I've only put one tank in the car.
As we get into colder months, diesel density decreases, so I suspect I won't see such good numbers for a while again.

@looney100: I thought that in Canada, the instrument display is in metric? So the fuel consumption is in L/100KM and not MPG.
In any case 42.8 US MPG converts to 5.5 L/100KM which is impressive. That should give a potential range of 1,360 KM per tank.
Cheers.

I'm aware of that. But Speedometer is fixed in metric, only the digital display is changed.
I've gotten used to Metric with L/100KM and KM/Hr since we buy our fuel in litres and not gallons.
I also find it meaningless to use Imperial gallons since the pumps don't use it.
Also the car dealers in Canada using FE in Miles/Imperial Gallon is rather deceptive!
Cheers.

This may seem late to the party, but does anyone have a window sticker with their cars? Did Mercedes confiscate all the E250 EPA figures they had printed on official documents? I cannot seem to find an image of E250 window stickers anywhere? I'm suspecting the detail shops throw them away, because you sure don't find very many cars with them in the paperwork or gloveboxes.
