The options are strange on the one I drove (like saying Mbrace is part of P01). Sticker is attached.

Those are some odd options... I'd keep looking, but that's just my two cents. Would rather not spend money on something like the comfort box, and more on some of the other options-- Distronic package, parking, ventilated seats, etc.

very nice. Looks like mine, except for the 115 volt plug and the rear seat/ spoiler stuff.

Code for the flat-bottomed wood/leather wheel is 314.... but, be careful if you are ordering lux package. There it may be 289 and round.

I guess the house passed a bill to fund customs at my port so that I could get my car... And the Senate thought that was a good thing and voted for it too. The ship has docked!

I know I asked a couple weeks ago, but will ask again (probably too few E250 owners), but does anyone who owns an E250 have any real life mpg stats. Really curious to know how some. Thanks!

This was on twitter a couple days ago:

  1. Jake Holmes ‏@AM_Jake
Drove @MBUSA E250 BlueTec to and from Chicago on one tank of diesel, hit 43.6 mpg over 502 miles. Very impressive! pic.twitter.com/QWyXNUqjXK

  2. Mike Margolis ‏@MargolisMike
@AM_Jake @MBUSA Awesome mileage. but my experience is that filling and calculating will get you about four less MPG than the guess-0-meter

  3. Jake Holmes ‏@AM_Jake
@MargolisMike Absolutely right, and I would have but I just didn't have time to properly fill and measure before leaving.

  4. Mike Margolis ‏@MargolisMike
@AM_Jake I have gotten to 42 mpg on my meter but never above 38 on a fill. 2011 e350 bluetec diesel

Picked up ours last evening... Awesome car.

Registered 41.9 since reset which was @7 miles at the dealership. Put around 45 miles on it one way. That included some idling and minor local traffic. It was still climbing when I got home. Range was up to 800 miles.

Still deliberating a name... My first instinct is either gender neutral or female, but in this case, I was inspired by the LED adaptive headlights, and its spaceship like cockpit and technology, so I may call it Buzz Lightyear! Buzz for short. LOL!

Per the mileage measurements. I am a trained Biometrician/Statistician and have found that unless you validate your measurement methodology it really doesn't matter which you use. I started my career at Nielsen Media Research where I was on the Statistics and Data Collection Research team. My first project was validating the PeopleMeter, a new (at the time) technology for measuring overnight audience COMPOSITION. Only one thing you need to know about Nielsen ratings... They are THE number that everyone based their ad buys off of. Ad agencies, networks, etc. Are they accurate? As much so as we could make them under the cost restrictions.

OK that said, validating either of the two methods above requires repeated measurement with probably thousands of vehicles... One huge variable in the fill the tank method is the sensitivity of the pump nozzle to determine when a car is "full". Sure you can use the same pump for all of your measurements, but then there is the weather factor... how cold it is in particular will determine when the nozzle triggers to turn off. And that also influences the energy content of the volume of fuels as we all know.

I'll stick with the fuel consumption instrument on the car... but I am not saying its "right." For comparison purposes, such as comparing to my E320 CDI, it is THE number.

I had a Professor in grad school who when passing me in the halls, eyeing my bundles of greenbar printouts from my latest runs, always addressed me with the same question... "Good Numbers?" It was just a way to challenge my wit with me coming up with a different answer each time... "Good for what?", "Good for Nothing", "Good Enough for Research", you get the idea.

I use fuelly.com to track my mileage.

For my car over the last 20,732 miles that I've used fuelly, I have averaged 30.6 mpg over 47 fill ups. I believe that 47 fill ups negates whether the car was really full, almost full, not quite as full as last time, different pump, cheating gas station, etc...

I reset the running mpg meter on my car at each oil change. It is currently reading 34.4 mpg over the last 9000 miles, so the delta between what I call real fuel mileage and the car's meter is 3.8 mpg, over 12%.

When the meter on the dashboard is consistently 4mpg over the real number, I just don't see how you can believe that number and use it. At least for my car, I can't and don't.

Your mileage may vary.

That's cool. Whatever you want is fine with me. Useful for tracking and detecting a major malfunction I suppose.

When it comes to numbers though, I find MPG pretty useless. For years now, i have been promoting the idea of using a dynamic indicator such as Bang for Buck, or in other words, how many miles you go on a dollar of gas (seems relevant to those of us who would pool our cash as teens and see how far or long we could cruise on a buck or two.) In this age of the internet and smartphones/apps, it makes comparing vehicles much more accessible and the results more relevant than the static EPA results.

It accounts for variations in fuel cost as well as fuel grade (in the case of gassers that require premium, this is especially relevant.) it also makes making fuel estimate costs for road trips trivial. Gas Buddy pretty much accomplishes the same thing with their trip calculator. Just take their distance estimate and divide by estimated cost of fuel for the trip, get miles per buck.

Does fuelly do this for you?

If you click on the fuelly banner under my posts, I think it'll take you to my page, where you'll see some stats like this:

Basic Stats

  • 30.6 -- avg MPG
  • 30.7 (+1.1) last MPG
  • 37.6 (9/11/13) best MPG
  • 725.0 All Time Best Miles/Fuel-up

  • $3.84 Avg. Price/Gallon
  • $59.22 Avg. Price/Fuel-up
  • $0.126 Avg. Price/Mile
  • $1,539.76 Total Spent

Are any of the 2014 E250BT having issues with the AdBlue warning light lighting up prematurely?

Over at the GLK forum several GLK250BT are reporting having this issue and M-B doesn't have a fix for it yet.

BMW 328D versus Mercedes E250

I picked up one of the first BMW 328 diesel x drive wagons a month ago and I am not happy with it. The engine is noisy, like the diesels of yore and the power is somewhat anemic unless it is in sport mode and then the mileage suffers. Speaking of mileage, I have never been able to break 40. On average, it gets about the same mileage as my Audi A8 diesel, which is really hard to understand.

I drove the Mercedes E250 today and was very impressed as it seemed more powerful and less noisy than the BMW, so I guess I will be switching over to the Merc.

Does anyone know if it is possible to order the E250 with the B&O stereo or is restricted to the E550 and E63?

Based on the paperwork I have, B&O is not available on the E250 because of the AdBlue tank in the trunk.

I tried getting "rear side window sunblinds 297" "rear heated seats", "active multicontour passanger seat" from my dealer but they said these options are not available for 2014 e250. anyone else got any options beside those listed on mbusa?

Heated rear seats, code 872, are available for E250BT in Canada, but only IF the leather package is ordered as well. No side window blinds nor active m/c passenger seat available for E250BT.

Where did you find it? I'd be shocked if some of those options were actually order-able for US-bound cars. I thought Splitview was not legal in the US?
