max we've done in our just-bought 2016 E350 mbtext is about 3-4 hours (hey, only had it a week) and I have no complaints about the seats, except I *HAVE* to take my wallet out of my right rear pocket or my butt gets sore very fast. Coming from 5+ years in W124 Mercedes (early 90s E class), and before that a Volvo 740, both of those cars have all day comfortable seats.

one of the cars we test drove prior to buying the 2016 E350 wagon was a 2020 Mazda CX-5 "Grand Touring', and while I thought the seats were decent, my wife, after about 20 minutes, complained both her legs were going completely numb from the bolsters. kind of a shame, it was a pretty nice car, otherwise. not a MB, obviously, but less than half the price new for a well equipped and well appointed car that had nice road handling and driving characteristics. oddly, the 'smaller' CX-30 had better seats, however the brand new one we test drove had quite a lot of wind and road noise at 55+ MPH and the 4 cyl engine was obnoxious when wound up to pass.

I have a rental 2020 CX-5 GT right now.. the seats are, as you say, decent. Nothing special. I have always said the W212 seats were "acceptable", but they are superior to the CX-5. The Macan seats are in a different league altogether than even the W212. The Mazda is fun to drive, though. The naturally aspirated 2.5L does sound like an econobox. Still, we've owned 3 Mazdas in the past - two 3's and one Miata - and they are fantastic cars. Would not hesitate to recommend anything they make.

As mentioned in other threads before, l think the stiff suspension of w212 contributes a lot the uncomfortness.

Note the "luxury" trim on the E350 has softer suspension than the sport, and 17" wheels too... that makes a big difference in the ride quality. The wagon.has air suspension in back, that helps too
