Grumpy Old Men
Obvious mis-spelled words won't raise an eyebrow unless somebody wants to jerk your chain, but consistently writing "breaks" instead of "brakes" or "tints" instead of "tint" will get commented upon. Some forums will blast you for using "rims" when you really meant "wheels." The rim is the outer edge of the wheel that touches the tire, while the wheel is the entire assembly.
Writing an entire screen of rant without using commas, periods or paragraphs is a sure way of getting comments on virtually any forum. Those posts make anyone's head hurt. Let me show you why.

Those run on posts are normally posted by someone who just had a bad dealer experience and wants advice. Problem is that nobody will read the post and then the poster gets more ticked off and STARTS USING ALL CAPS IN ADDITION TO NOT USING PUNCTUATION IN ADDITION TO BECOMING INCOHERENT BECAUSE THEY ARE EVEN MADDER.
I don't know of anyone who was picked on for an obvious misspelled werd or missing a comma.
Does that help?

Anyway, there is no harm in getting along guys, opinions may vary but that should not damage friendship or not worth loosing your temper
My GF liked my Benzes but always made fun of them being "old mans cars" as well. She almost seemed embarrassed to tell people what I drove. It was annoying.
I certainly would not drive an E class or 5 series, if I were in my 30's.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
The perception of ignorant people has absolutely nothing to do with Mercedes targeted market.
"Mercedes" (regardless of model) in the past has always been "perceived" as an "old man's car" (largely because of the S-Class).
Even the new CLA will face an uphill battle to shake that perception.
Much like the new Corvette. Chevy built that car for a younger age group, and when I look at the 2014 E and an E coupe, I highly doubt that Mercedes is targeting the 45+ audience.
But people's ignorance will lead them to believe that the inside of all Corvettes and Mercedes will smell like grandma's house.
The E is certainly targeted as a car for the middle aged, the interior design, shifter stalk, exterior design and most importantly floaty ride with 0 sporting intentions make that very clear.
That doesn't have to be a bad thing. That IS what Mercedes is about, it's the brands charm and historical ideology that got them this far.
Mercedes should be the brand that can get away with that unapologetically. It also gives therm the highest sense of maturity.
Where Mercedes always comes off as forced and unnatural is when they try too hard to make you perceive them as "youthful", or worse; "kiddish" i.e the CLA. Mercedes shouldn't make apologies about being a cushy mature, old-world inspired manufacturer. Let everyone else keep pandering to the marketing saturated "sporty" theme. Mercedes currently doing so is not only transparently false but desperate.

try just saying something NICE and leave it at that!!!
were you abused or something?
are you guys sure you wouldn't want to be driving this:

edit: maybe i haven't had my coffee yet, but is this whip actually starting to look better with those wheels? it's like it has graduated from puke-stain/cringe-worthy to flashy/tasteless... by next year it will be all the rage!

Also, I think there is a survey out there saying that the average MB owners being in their 50s with annual income of $200K. I do see many E class sedan drivers that fits this description. I've seen more younger (late 20-30s) driving the coupe than the sedan.
Ever since I was little, I've always wanted a MB for its prestige and luxury. My wife only want a MB because she like the "Star" and she knows its a luxury car. LOL
Anyway, can you do an Age and Sex survey of E-class owners here?
Wife is 30 and I'm 32. I got the car for her but I normally drive it when we go out.
there are 100 BS threads any maybe 1-2 functional threads related to car enthusiast
BMW forums are much more car oriented where MB forums are more EGO oriented as well as mods
MB forums suck ... even cars are good
