Got my new 14 E350! pics with 19s
So I took delivery a couple days ago on my new 2014 E350 -
Fairly loaded, and by fairly I mean it can drive me home from work by itself but the back seats don't fold down. oh well - No big deal.
Here are a few pics. I swapped the 19s I had on my '13 over immediately and it made a huge difference aesthetically. It came with the basic 18" wheels that come with 245 width tires all around, and switched them to 245/35/19 and 275/30/19. My main concern was that the distronic steering would be affected by the lower profile and/or wider/staggered tires and not be as responsive, but there was no issue.
Overall I love this car so far - Miles more sexy than the previous body style. As a matter of fact, in the first few days I've already had two random people tell me 'nice car man' and nobody had ever told me that with the 13
I highly recommend the distronic! it will transform your commute home from work if you sit in traffic for any amount of time. as a matter of fact its actually kind of boring now.. I don't quite know what to do with myself.. stare out the window at cars going by mainly, trying to freak them out while making eye contact and traffic ahead is stopping
Here are some pics - Not that it matters but that is not my place of residence

Haha, Congrats! I am so tempted to trade my car in just to get the new distronic.
I would do the same thing you do in traffic except I would probably open a newspaper lol.

compared to the 13 it actually drives quite a bit different. the transmission shifts are more firm and quick, even in eco mode. Also the steering is a lot tighter and less boosted.
This ends up giving the car a much more solid and planted feeling, more sporty definitely.
Things I don't like are the way the shift paddle (M) mode will revert back to auto mode automatically if youre not actively accelerating or using the paddles. It makes sense, i just don't like EVERYTHING having a mind of its own.
Also, start-stop function is fine most times and unnoticeable - but sometimes like going through a drive through or, parking in the garage (inching forward) can be annoying as it keeps shutting off everytime the car stops moving. overall its not too bad and i'm excited to do an experiment to determine actual fuel savings.
Joe - yeah its got the distronic plus and does steer by itself. It is pretty amazing seeing the wheel turn on its own. it certainly has its more effective moments in different traffic conditions. and if it loses its way, it can end up drunk swerving trying to correct itself (this is at very low speed only - so not dangerous). Higher speed conditions the car will track the lane on its own and assist the steering effort but if you let go of the wheel it will not continue turning for you.
Overall I'm super impressed, even having JUST driven the last years model a week ago - The new one is much improved.

And yes, my 2014 E350 does drive itself in commute. We were stuck recently on Highway 1 near Monterey, CA in a very slow commute and it drove itself for several slow miles.

BenzV12 ... that would be me. My 2010 "saw" the idiot in front of me jack-knife and applied full braking before I could move the right foot the inch or two to the brakes. My story was one of those featured in an MB commercial back in 2010-2011. I will never own an MB without that feature.
