Pano Roof Rattle Question
I have always loved the pano roof. My 2011 E350 4matic lease is up soon, going to get a 2014 and I am considering the pano roof.
For someone like me who cannot tolerate any rattles on a 60K+ car will I be setting myself up for disappointment with the pano roof? I have heard mixed things over the years and id like to hear from anyone who might have some insight. Again, understand i am fanatical like many of you and will absolutely loose my mind if its noisy.
Thanks in advance...

My 2009 pano was flawless. My 2011 is flawless. I think it will rattle around just as much as any other sunroof. In fact my 2008 GS350 sunroof chattered like crazy.

My 12' doesn't rattle, but once in a while it makes this loud popping sound when I back out of my driveway. Maybe the chasis flexing a bit when going over the apron of my driveway entrance. Sounds almost as if someone threw a rock at glass. Any way I love the look of pano especially on a white car, but my next E350 I just ordered Wednesday I did not get Pano.

I had the loud popping noise when I put either one of the front wheels on a raised surface, like driving in a drive way and one side hitting the curb first. This did not happen every time but when it did the pop was very loud.
Service said the Pano-roof I have must be lubed. They did this, at least this was told to me and no more popping sound since.

Get it. Pano opens up the interior in a significant way. Way more light comes in and feels much larger and less enclosed. The return on investment in my opinion is huge because it's a feature you can experience and enjoy every single time you get in the car. Not to mention it just looks better.

My 211 creaks and pops all the time, and the dealer claimed they couldn't figure it out while under warranty. It's the major reason I'll probably never buy another MB (after owning several 126s and now my 211). At the dealer today, he claimed the 212 would never ever rattle, but I had a long talk with an MB Engineer a year or so ago who said they all do eventually, including the brand new (at the time) CLS he had just spent some time in.

lol, I was about to post the same thing.
The lack of Pano roof on the CLS is one of the few things that stoped me from buying it. So I wanted to know where that Engineer got that CLS with Pano roof from... did he engineer it himself? lol

What in the above writing says that the CLS in question had a Pano roof? I think it refers to rattles in general.
