Ordered 19" wheels need help with tires size please
I promise to upload pictures once i get them installed!
I ordered TSW Jerez - Matte Black 19x8 front and 19x9.5 rear for my 2010 E350. Discount tires recommended tires (Michelin AS3) are 255/35/19 front and 285/30/19 back. Most website that sells wheels this size comes with 245/35 front and 275/30 rear. Is Discount tires recommendation too wide? I know the E63 AMG is on this specs of tires but i think the rims on AMG are wider.
Requesting comments please - Thanks!

unless you use the braille system when you park along curbs, there's no need to go 255/285 on those rim widths. go with 245 and 275.. that's more flush with rim and would allow you to be more flush with fender if that's what you want to achieve.

One cellphone picture for now...
Crappy day, raining and grey out so i only took cell phone picture for now. Anyways, the tires are 255/35/19 and 285/30/19 and they are on the fat side due to all (per Discount tires) 245/35 and 275/30 all season tires don't have the load rating of 97. These tires are Michelin AS3. So far so good, no vibration and ride still nice and not bouncy so I'm glad I did 19". Not lowered for now.

True, lots of meat on those tires. I can find Conti DWS with load rating of 97 for the back (275/30) but all the 245 for the front are only rated at 93 so that's out. I guess I'm stuck with these tires size for now.

I'm in this same boat right now. Got new wheels on the way: 19x8.5 fronts and 19x9.5 rears (both 45mm offset). I was going to go with 245/35R19 F and 275/30R19 R but I can't find any tires at a load rating of 97.
So now based on this thread I'm looking at 255/35R19 F and 285/30R19 R. From the Mercedes Benz website, the 2014 E63 AMG has 19x9.5 rears with 285/30R19 which is exactly what I am getting now so I guess it will match the look of the AMG. Diameter calculation works out too.
But for the fronts, the 2014 E63 AMG runs 19x9 fronts with 255/35R19. The wheels I got are 19x8.5 fronts so at the same tire size, it's going to bulge a bit, right? V70R2E350 above ran 19x8 fronts so I guess his are bulging more than mine will so if I'm ok with his look, then I should be ok as I will bulge less?

I guess I should be ok? I just saw member alanme123's thread here:
https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...take-look.html
He's running 19x8.5 and 19x9.5 with 255/35R19 and 285/30R19 and it seems to look just fine.

Hmm, interesting. The 2014 E550 had a factory option for staggered 19" wheels and the description on the configurator shows as follows:
--
19-inch 5-double-spoke wheel
Finish: Himalaya Grey
Tire Size: 8,5 J x 19 ET 48
Wheel Size: 245/35 R19 XL
Option for rear axle:
Finish: Himalaya Grey
Tire Size: 9,5 J x 19 ET 48
Wheel Size: 275/30 R19 XL
--
That suggests there is a tire out there at 245/35R19 and 275/30R19 that is within load rating spec by Mercedes. I just can't find anything on Tire Rack or Discount Tire that matches what my 18's have which is 97Y. After pointing out that there is a factory option at those sizes, one of the service reps at my local Americas Tire is checking with their headquarters on what they can do. Their system is red flagging the 245/35 and 275/30 but all the manual calculations he has done based on the gross weight, etc show things are fine at 93Y F and 96Y R. He's supposed to get back to me later today.

And here's another PDF brochure. Page 5 has the 19" wheel option with tires at 245/35 and 275/30 for a 19x8.5/19x9.5 staggered setup which is exactly what I will run.

I guess I have convinced myself what others have already stated which is that 245/35 and 275/30 are the optimal size. The trick is convincing these tire companies to sell it to me.

Well, I failed. America's Tire escalated to headquarters and they said no. As others said already, they want to use 255/35 and 285/30 on the 19x8.5/19x9.5 wheels. There are no tires from any brand at 245/35 and 275/30 that meet Mercedes required load rating of 97 and thus they will not sell/mount them for me. Guess I too am going with 255/35 and 285/30. On a good note the E63 AMG uses 285/30 on the rear stock 19x9.5 so that works fine. But the E63 uses 255/35 on a front 19x9 whereas mine is 19x8.5 so it's going to be a little fat. Guess I have to deal with it. Will check again for a better fit next time I need new tires.

Anyhow, went with 255/35 and 285/30.. and it actually looks fine. I did go with Hankooks which apparently aren't as wide so it looks pretty good. And again, the rear 285/30 on 19x9.5 matches the E63. The front is a little wider than the E63 but not noticeable.

Yes, I have 255/35 and 285/30s. I was in the same boat as you because they wouldnt get me 245/275s because of the load rating.. I don't understand because the Contipros that came with my car were 245/275s.
They fit fine but just be careful of steep bumps because the wide wheels might slightly rub the edge of the wheel well.

New Niche Sport Rims
Hi, I am new to the Forum and need some help.
I drive a 2010 E550 coupe and just had MHT - Niche Targa M130 19" wheels installed with 275/R30 Michelin Tires on the rears. Based on the research I did, they should fit, but on my way to work today I heard them rub a bit when going over bumps. They look great and would hate to change them. Any suggestions on what to do to correct the problem.
Thanks, Mike

If it only rubs over bumps and not during normal driving, then it's too bad. Rubbing the side walls of the tires won't cause any significant structural damage to the tire, so at the end of the day, it is about the annoying sound that it makes that causes discomfort to the ears. A common solution to this problem is to get your guards professional rolled or pulled out. The scrapping most likely occurs at the rear. So you should go to a local mechanic and ask for 'guard rolling' or 'fender flaring'

Actually, the rubbing occurred the first day because I had the 4 winter wheels in the trunk. since then there has been very little rubbing...only over large bumps. I think I can live with it.
Thanks for the comments.
