Driver's seat keeps ripping apart

O yeah.
Most manufacturers will cover some situations even after warranty has expired out of good faith. Particularly if it is a component that should last for long, long time - and MBTex seats should.
Consumer Reports recently did a review on a vehicle with MBTex and recommended not getting leather. MBTex looks as good and wears as well - or better than leather. This has been my experience also.

My W123 had MB Tex, that car had over 300k miles on it, not one blemish on any of the seats, only two cracks in the dash. The W212 seats do hold you better, but the older seats were more comfortable long distance traveling. Or maybe my older *** is not as forgiving as it once was...

are the ones sold by Richmond not OEM? When you say half have good luck do you mean about the Benzes in particular, or in general?

Apple and MB.
yes, it is exactly what good companies do. I have Mac book just regular from plastic, so back cover appeared some delamination, so I brought it to genius bar and back cover was replaced for free. (total cost was shown $160 covered by Apple). My Mac book is out of warranty for two years, so go figure. I always rated MB as Apple, incredible design, superb quality, and outstanding service.

Neither one is innovative and only have good marketing. Well yeah the Crapple store will swap your plastic lid. Cost them $1.00 in materials and they know fans will be back for a flavor of Lenox sprinkler with their proprietart code. I'm blow away with the Iflop 15 so innovative adding another camera. Just so you know osx will run on a Acer laptop. It's just against the control freaks EULA. Every IPhone in make at Foxcon in China and the employee's are treated like slaves. That's a reason to not support them and the fact that they are control freaks no 3.5 audio port but we will sell you ours at a rediculous price. Lol.
Does that go for the Chinese junk (iPhone) too?

Just for the record to represent the experience of other W212 owners...
My 2016 W212 is now 8 years old, and I've NEVER had any problems whatsoever with the MB-TEX seats. They look as new today as they were in 2016. Car is parked in my garage when not in use.
My 2001 C-Class sedan had ZERO MB-TEX seat problems until it was more than 20 years old. Parked outside the garage since I bought the W212 in 2018, I suspect the seats became affected by the sun.
IMO, some of you people are too rough with your seats.

It's very likely by 2016, the last year of the W212 sedan, they fixed the underlying issue; apparently some 2014 owners like myself weren't so lucky. I'm relatively medium sized (certainly not overweight) and my ingress and egress is very careful due to a) loving my car enough that I don't want to see stress marks on the bolsters, and b) having back issues in a previous life

They do have a video showing the difference between theirs and Richmonds. But as they don't cover my needs, and I had bad luck matching at local auto trim shops, I'm going Richmond too.
Check dealer parts, they still show my W212 seat bottoms in beige as of yesterday. Expensive, but they will be exact match, no color variations or fitment problems.

Their shipping sucks so bad on another order, it was cheaper for me to drive there and pick up myself. and was still $100 cheaper than my dealer, still adding in the fuel costs.
We just added the extra miles to a trip we were taking already.

These seats are very comfortable for me. I actually look forward sitting in this car.
Maybe due I'm so use to all the track cars I've had over the years and still track my current track car.

I think that @nc211 's finding that relates to the ripping of the seat is that the spring is too soft, and allows us to sink too much putting strain on the seat cover stitches and ripping apart. We can blame the stitches to be too tight, or too much stretching due to lack of support.

Seems to be for mercedes
I have owned 3 different styles of mercedes, C350, GLK 350, and E350. They all have ripped seats. I have owned multiple cars at the same time most of my adult life so the mercedes was not my primary car. I have owned the E350 for 7 years, have only driven it about 7k miles per year (well under the average), I only weigh 100lbs, sooo why are the seats ripping. These vehicles were never my primary vehicle. All of them are way under the average miles a person drives per year which is about 15k. Mercedes has an upholstery problem. If it was 1 of the 3 I'd say it was a fluke but at this point I'm 3 for 3. And they all were garaged, no excessive exposure to sunlight. As a matter of fact I covered the seats with cloth seat covers on the E350 and GLK almost immediately when I purchased them.

Hey Mercedes Benz, if you’re paying attention to this forum - this was our last straw with you. I won’t buy another. We’re on a street full of BMW’s, we are the only MB house. I’m seeing less and less MB’s in our country club neighborhood too. Used to be 6 new GLS’s, we’re down to two now. Is and one AMG. The others? Two had ripped seats as well, one got tired of replacing rear tires every 10k miles, and the other shorted out in the middle of an intersection. You guys have a problem. You’re heading back to the Chrysler era of reliability, clearly..

Lousy Vinyl called "MB TEX"
[I've had 5 Mercedes from 1991 - 2011
every one had good quality leather except for my current E350 Wagon,
the vinyl is awful,
driver seat split & I spent $500 replacing bottom OEM + installation.
AVOID MB-TEX AT ALL COSTS!!!

Avoid MB-Tex vinyl inferior seating
Only purchase optional leather seating in any MB.
the vinyl standard seating in E's & C's is very inferior!
