2010 E350 (W212) Aux Battery Replacement

re main battery in trunk, when the inline 6 cylinder W124 E came out with a V8 (500E, 400E) circa 1990, they relocated the battery from the false firewall (where it is on my W212 E350) to the trunk because they had to push that false firewall farther back to make room for the larger M119 V8, so Mercedes has a long tradition of doing that.

For my 2011 E550 - I was just quoted $ 355 + tax (Canadian = about $ 260 USD) to replace the Auxiliary Battery.
I have seen the behind the dash replacement video & there is no way I would try that myself.
Does this quote seem reasonable?

Just joking...
Aux battery in your car is inside the left end of your dash. It is very easy to change. You need to take the panel of the end and another one down under the dash to do it but it is easy job. But if you prefer go and have it done. Battery cost about USD 65 so it is about CAD 80 or so. At CAD 355 it leaves CAD 275 for the labor, which in my opinion is high, but hey, it is Mercedes, right?

But is good to know what the parts / labour might better be from my Indi Mechanic shop.
Time to prepare for negotiations.

not everyone has the aptitude to do mechanical stuff. I had to visit my brother to change his kitchen faucet washers, about as simple a job as there is. my dad barely knew which end of a screwdriver to use, his tool collection was pretty much limited to a couple very funky old screwdrivers (none phillips), a hammer, and a pair of generic pliers.

i'm the brainiac in the family, comfortably retired computer engineer.
my dad was a failed PR writer who inherited money he was able to live on, and my brother was a chef and is a guitar player and except for his part of our dad's inheritance would have NOTHING but his guitar collection to his name

I just finished replacing the aux battery replacement on my '12 E350, I bought mine at Amazon for $50. My hands would barely fit into the access hole so I lowered the panel under the dash. Since the hood release cable was attached to the panel I couldn't move it enough to get great access but it was better than trying to squeeze my hand into the access hole. Hopefully I won't have to do that again.

auxiliary battery
Good day all this is my 1st post on the board and look forward to all of the replies!
I’m an avid DIY and I can’t see paying someone to do something that I can do myself.
But to the point. The Auxiliary Battery Malfunction message has illuminated on my 2010 E350 (W212). The issue is I can’t find the location of the Aux battery so that I can change it. Does anyone know where the aux battery is located? The only battery I’ve found is the main battery under the passenger side of the hood next to the cabin air filter.
Where is the Aux battery located?![nix](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/nixweiss.gif)
