I liked the solid feel of e350 but want more power than m272 and m276, thus on my route to a 2012+ e550 which has a newer more efficient motor.
However 2012+ e550 sedans are rare on market.
I saw one close to me here:

edmunds detail retail clean price for this one is 47k. They ask for 53k. It is a significant markup due to rarity I think.
how much should I expect to pay for this one to be fair? thanks!

2012 E550, 19k Miles, P2 Package, CPO is priced right according to used car estimates. Maybe you forgot to add the options when you looked it up.

Need to wait another 6 months to a year before they start coming off lease return in quantity before enough of them are on the used market to bring the price down and availability up.

Agree with Tjdehya here. Seems to be priced right. I bought my '11 E550, P2, 11k miles for $49k back in July. Same color combos as the one you are looking at. Have to say I do like the wood wheel option on that '12..Originally Posted by Tjdehya

Not a lot of inventory of '12 out there yet.

Guys: convince me to get a 2011 instead. Originally Posted by Grego3031

more efficient while more powerful motor attracts me. But I do have lots of short trips to not do the di engine any favor.

Try a 2010 E550? I picked one up for low 30's this spring and cant be happier!
for those who've driven both the 5.5 and 4.6 engines? how much better do you feel is the 4.6? 30%? 20%? i mean subjective feel.
I have a 2012 with the 4.6 TT engine. I feel a substantial difference compared to the 5.5 N/A engine in my previous 2008 CLK 550. I originally was looking for a 2010 or 2011 CPO E550 but the TT engine sold me on a new 2012. Others on the forum have argued that there is no real difference because there is only a 20 HP (rated) difference but I doubt that they have actually driven a 4.6 TT. There is a bigger difference in torque.

I hear u. the e350 m276 motor has 300 hp but it is the torque that makes it feel not TOO much different from a m272, obviously there is some difference.Originally Posted by dan1495

I test drove the 2012. If I was in the market for a used E550. I would go 2012 because of that TT.
Forget about a 2011, keep shopping till you find the 2012 you want.

Ok - the NA V8 has plenty of power AND it's not direct injection. It's basically an updated engine based on the (ultra reliable) M113 block. Drawbacks - slightly lower fuel economy, and the infotainment systems are (for most 2011 cars) back-level.Originally Posted by e350ok

Do a Google search on "direct injection problems" - those who have a direct injection engine are basically beta testing a new technology - one that leaves recycled exhaust gasses (think EGR) injected into the intake ports without a spray of fuel to wash any gunk off - that can lead to carbon build up in the intake ports and on the intake valves which will lead to reduced performance.
