The benz, but the the next version (meaning 08-13) of the CTS-V would trump that E55.

S213 E450 4Matic, W111 220SE - prior cars: 3x W212, W210 E55 AMG, W202 C43 AMG, W126 300SE

Depends on your priorities. E55 will probably be cheaper, marginally slower, auto only, some risk if buying one from a rusty climate, non cheap maintenance - but will have a nicer interior and probably be a smoother drive.
